DFS CFL Best Draft Kings Values Week 6

It was a tale of ups and downs in terms of Daily Fantasy Sports success. There were two CFL quarterbacks I advised to pay up for in Week 5. One threw 4 touchdowns, while the other did not find the end zone and instead threw 3 interceptions. For Week 6 of DraftKings main slate pricing, I am less interested in the top quarterbacks than I was last week. Find out below who I have identified as the best values at the QB, RB, WR, and DST positions.

Quarterback

Michael Reilly (BC) $8,900 vs OTT

In my Week 4 article, I featured Michael Reilly as the QB to have. I was correct as he produced a season-best 27.04 fantasy point performance against Ottawa. Here in Week 6, Reilly will once again face the RedBlacks, who just gave up 51 points last week. Now, a big part of Reilly’s production so far this season has been scoring with his legs. He has three straight games with a rushing TD. While betting on a fourth match in a row is risky, Reilly has also done this throughout his career. He has multiple seasons of double-digit rushing touchdowns so this is part of his game.

Probably the best stacking option to go along with Reilly is WR Lucky Whitehead. That is also a repeat of my Week 4 prediction. However, because of the rushing TD upside, Reilly is also a viable play without stacking. Either way, This Ottawa @ BC game is the matchup I most want to target.

Dominique Davis (OTT) $7,300 @ BC

I like this matchup so much that I am going to choose both quarterbacks in this game. Now, this is assuming Dominique Davis is named the starting QB for Ottawa. If that is the case, Davis will help the offense by his ability to push the ball down the field. However, where he may most aid fantasy managers is on the ground. Coming in as the backup in week 5, Davis ran 8 times for 38 yards a 1 TD. If he can find the endzone multiple times (either with his arm or his legs) then Davis could end up being the best QB play of the week.

Running Back

James Wilder Jr. (EDM) $9,300 vs CGY

Andrew Harris (WPG) $9,000 vs SSK

Last week, I said to pay up at QB. This week, I say grab the top two running backs. James Wilder and Andrew Harris are both efficient runners as demonstrated by their career yard per carry. Both backs are above 5.6 yards per rushing attempt during their respective careers in the CFL. But the reason both players are so expensive on Draft Kings is because of the passing game involvement. So far in 2021, Wilder leads all running backs in targets (23), receptions (17), and receiving yards (121).

Meanwhile, Harris had made a career as the premier pass-catching back in the CFL. Outside of a 12 game 2014 season, Harris has over 50 receptions in 7 of his last 8 seasons. With Winnipeg, he has been completely unleashed as a pass-catcher. In four years with the team, Harris has twice led the Blue Bombers in receptions. That includes a 105-catch campaign in 2017. While he only has 2 receptions on the season, look for that number to jump drastically over the coming weeks.

Wide Receiver

DaVaris Daniels (TOR) $8,200 vs HAM

Even though he has missed some game action due to injury, DaVaris Daniels still leads Toronto in targets so far. However, this 2021 season has been up down for him in terms of production. Daniels has two 100-yard games to his, but also two games under 30 receiving yards. After facing Hamilton last week, the Argonauts are back in action against their provincial rival, but this time at home. If Daniels can get 11 targets like last week, he should be in line for a productive game.

Daniel Petermann (OTT) $6,000 @ BC

Arguably, Daniel Petermann is the best stacking option for either of the quarterbacks featured in this article. So far in this young season, Petermann has both of Ottawa’s only 2 receiving touchdowns. And both came last game when Dominique Davis took over at QB. Look for the chemistry between Davis and Petermann to continue and be the best stack option on the team.

Now, at $6,000, Petermann comes in less costly than the high target BC receivers. In the instance where you don’t want to stack Michael Reilly with any of his teammates, Petermann provides a solid option. There is a correlation upside between the two if the RedBlack-Lions match turns into a shootout. That is also true if you stack Reilly with a Lions WR and Petermann to get three players from the same game.

Jordan Williams-Lambert (SSK) $5,100 @ WPG

Last week I was all about the value with Kyran Moore at $7,000. After receiving 15 targets in week 5, he went up in cost to $8,400. While I still believe Moore is a decent play at that price, my favorite value on Saskatchewan is now Jordan Williams-Lambert. He is second on the team in targets and receptions on the season. More importantly, Williams-Lambert was the clear #2 option for the Roughriders passing attack in week 5. With the rematch against Winnipeg upcoming, look for him to repeat that role.

Update: Jordan Williams-Lambert has been ruled out for Week 6. In terms of Saskatchewan wide receivers, I will want to have more Kyran Moore ($8,400) and Brayden Lenius ($3,300) in my lineups.

Deep Dive

Steven Dunbar Jr. (HAM) $3,900 @ TOR

This Week 6 Deep Dive could potentially feature multiple options from the same game. There are three players in particular that can be found in the $4K range that I am interested in. All of them are either on Hamilton or Toronto. But the player I am putting forward here is actually cheaper than all of those other options.

Steven Dunbar brings something to the Tiger-Cats receiving corps that the team is short on. At 6’3″ is he is the tallest receiver on Hamilton. He was also not used much in Week 5, since the team managed to hold the Argonauts to only 4 points through 3 quarters. Going on the road, it may be a more competitive game through the 4th quarter. That would potentially lead to more targets for Dunbar. He certainly made the most of his talents in his Week 4 CFL debut when he caught 6 passes or 95 yards a 1 TD. If he can recapture that, he will be a bargain below $4K.

Defense

Hamilton Tiger-Cats $5,300 @ TOR

This week the defensive theme is QB uncertainty. Toronto is one team where the starting QB is not 100% established. After struggling against Hamilton last week, Nick Arbuckle was pulled in the 4th quarter. McLeod Bethel-Thompson led the Argonauts on a TD drive and looked rather efficient. While that QB uncertainty could confuse the defense in terms of preparation, Arbuckle and Bethel-Thompson have similar styles. So it should not be that much of an adjustment for a defense that scored a pick-6 against this team last week. Even though they are on the road, the Tiger-Cats are the most expensive defense this week for a reason.

BC Lions $4,400 vs OTT

Personally, my favorite option at defense this week is the BC Lions. Once again I am targeting QB uncertainty. As mentioned earlier in the article, Ottawa made a QB change in the middle of Week 5. Dominique Davis lead the offense to their first two passing touchdown drives of the season so it would appear likely he’ll be named the starter in week 6. While I did tab him as a good play in DFS this week, it is a risk. During the 2019 season, Davis had a passing TD to INT ratio of 5:14. Even with 6 rushing scores added, that ratio is still a negative. Coming off the bye week, BC could be rested and ready to take advantage.
