Stephen Strasburg

Strasburg will face the Braves in Nationals Park. He is the biggest favorite on the slate, and is tied for the lowest OTT (see pitcher chart). He’s also about $1,500 cheaper than Jacob deGrom and Chris Sale, making him my likely SP1 in cash games. The colder Washinton DC weather also works in Strasburg’s favor over deGrom’s warm Miami conditions. Sale will have good weather as well, but faces a much tough opponent in the New York Yankees.

Aaron Nola

Nola faces the Cincinnati Reds in Citizens Bank Park. It’s not a great park for pitching, but Nola has one of the lower OTTs on the slate. He’s a fairly large favorite in this game and is $8,200 on DraftKings which puts him squarely in the SP2 range. Nola might not have enough strikeout upside against this Reds team for tournaments, but I like his safety in cash games.

Sean Manaea

Manaea has been on fire to start the season. He’s topped 25 DK points in both of his starts and will now face the Dodgers in Dodger Stadium, one of the best pitchers parks in baseball. It’s not a great matchup, but Manaea will have the platoon advantage against some of the Dodgers best hitters. I like Manaea’s upside in tournaments, but don’t think I’ll risk him in cash games.

Hitters

Mike Trout

Trout is the top hitter on the slate, even with Coors Field in play. He’ll face Martin Perez, who has a very low strikeout rate, allowing Trout to put the ball in play frequently. The Angels have a team run total of five, so they should put up some runs in the matchup. The weather in Arlington is beginning to warm up, so this should help hitters as well.

Nolan Arenado

Arenado was a disappointment last night, but he’ll be back in my lineups tonight. He’ll face Joey Lucchesi, a young lefty, so he’ll have the platoon advantage. The Rockies have a team run total of 5.5 runs and Arenado’s price has dropped slightly since yesterday.

Value Bats

It’s a night where I’m going to want two relatively high priced pitchers in my cash game lineups. There are no value bats that stick out as must-plays at the moment, but many will become available when lineups and umpire data come out. Watch the top of the order, preferably for the teams with the highest team run totals, and select value from there. Some players on my radar right now are: Wilmer Flores, Austin Jackson, Derek Dietrich, Dexter Fowler, Tommy Pham, Mike Moustakas, and Lucas Duda.
