Shohei Ohtani

Ohtani will face the Astros in Minute Maid Park. The Astros are a great offense, and strike out 23.5% of the time, 16th highest in the league. The matchup is tough, but Ohtani is a true ace. I’ll treat him as I treat other aces in tough spots. They are tournament plays, but could make a cash game roster if the opposing team puts out a weak lineup.

Kenta Maeda

Maeda will face the Marlins in Dodgers park. He’s the heaviest favorite on the slate and has the lowest OTT (see pitcher chart). The Marlins have the second lowest wRC+ this season as well. Although it might not be the same on Tuesday, the Marlins put seven righties in their lineup on Monday. Maeda should have the platoon advantage against the majority of the lineup, helping his strikeout upside.

Luke Weaver

Weaver gets no love from the DraftKings pricing. He’s priced at $7,500, but is in the perfect range for a solid SP2. The Mets can put a lot of lefties in the lineup, but Weaver has given up a career .323 wOBA against lefties and a .322 wOBA against righties. Weaver has the second lowest OTT on the slate, and is one of the larger favorites. If he can get six or seven strikeouts, he should be in a great position to reach or exceed value.

Hitters

Joey Gallo/Rangers Lefties

Gallo will face Andrew Triggs in Globe Life Park. He’ll hold the platoon advantage and will bat in the top five of the order. The Rangers have a team run total of 4.5, but that actually seems a bit low. Gallo has the highest home run projection on the slate, giving him a ton of upside for $3,900. Nomar Mazara and Shin-Soo Choo will also bat at the top of the order, have the platoon advantage, and are less than $4,000 on DraftKings. I like all three values for cash games, and don’t mind a Rangers stack in tournaments.

Nolan Arenado

I currently have Arenado locked into my cash game lineups. He’ll face a lefty in Coors Field and is $5,400. It’s difficult to fade Arenado when he’s facing a lefty, and today is no exception. Outside of Arenado, I struggle to find cash game options I like in Coors Field. If Chris Iannetta starts, he’s in play at $3,500, but I’m not excited about it. Charlie Blackmon will not hold the platoon advantage, and is $5,800. David Dahl is now $3,500 and will not hold the platoon advantage either. On the Padres side, Wil Myers is the only player I’m currently considering.
