Jacob DeGrom/Corey Kluber
DeGrom will face the Padres in Petco Park. The Padres lead the league in strikeout rate at 28.0% and their wRC+ is in the bottom third of the league. DeGrom is tied for the second lowest OTT on the slate (see pitcher chart) behind Corey Kluber. DeGrom is the top projected pitcher on the slate, and is $500 cheaper than Corey Kluber.
Kluber is a tournament play for me. He has the lowest OTT and is the biggest favorite, however, the Mariners have some solid lefties, and have the 6th lowest strikeout rate.
Stephen Strasburg
Strasburg is $2,100 cheaper than Kluber, $1,600 cheaper than deGrom, and may end up being a better point/$ play because of it. He’ll face the Diamondbacks at home in Nationals Park. With an OTT of three, run prevention should be there and the Diamondbacks have the fifth highest strikeout rate this year. I certainly would take deGrom over Strasburg in raw points, but for the price, Strasburg may end up being the preferred cash game option.
Danny Duffy
Duffy faces the White Sox who can put nine righties in the lineup. When Duffy played the White Sox earlier this year, he scored just 3.6 DK points after cruising through the first few innings. He’s not safe, but for his price, Duffy is my favorite tournament play on the slate, and may end up on my cash team because of the value he provides. He has an OTT of four, but can still reach value if he gives up some runs. Despite a righty-heavy lineup, the White Sox have the highest strikeout rate against lefties this season at 30.4%. This strikeout upside and Duffy’s price make him appealing on Friday night.

Hitters
Odubel Herrera
Herrera will face Julio Teheran in Citizens Bank Park. Herrera will have the platoon advantage, and Teheran has historically struggled against lefties. With a bit of power, and a bit of speed, Herrera has a decent chance at both a home run and a steal. For $3,700, there are multiple ways for him to score, making him a great cash game value play.
Yoenis Cespedes/Todd Frazier
Cespedes will hold the platoon advantage against Clayton Richard in Petco Park. At. $4,100, Cespedes is simply too cheap against a weak lefty. Richard has a fairly low strikeout rate and a wide platoon split, giving up a .356 wOBA to righties in his career compared to a .279 wOBA against lefties. For $3,900, Frazier isn’t quite the value Cespedes is, but he still may find his way onto my cash game roster. The Mets have a team run total of four, but it seems like we know where the production will come from.
Manny Machado
If you can afford him, Machado is the top play at shortstop. He’ll face Mike Fiers, and the Orioles have a team run total of 4.5. Fiers has been known to cough up a few home runs, and Machado has a top five home run projection on the slate. He’s expensive, but if you’re going with Danny Duffy as your SP2, Machado should be in your lineup.
