Chris Sale

If you’re playing the early slate, Sale is the obvious choice. He’s very expensive, but he has plenty working for him. He’ll get a park upgrade traveling to Marlins Park and won’t have to face a DH. Sale is the largest favorite on the slate, has the lowest OTT (see pitcher chart), and has the highest strikeout rate. Everything points to a dominant performance from Sale on Tuesday.

Related Articles

Justin Verlander

Verlander will face the Orioles in Minute Maid Park. He’s the biggest favorite on the main slate, and only Clayton Kershaw has a lower OTT. The Orioles ran out six righties last night against right hander Charlie Morton, and I’d expect a similar lineup against Verlander. With the platoon advantage against most hitters, there is a ton of strikeout upside in this matchup. I slightly prefer Verlander and the savings over Kershaw at this point.

J.A. Happ

Happ will face the White Sox in the Rogers Centre. If you’ve read my articles this season, you’d know I’m picking on the White Sox until opposing pitcher pricing increases. Happ is only $7,900 on DraftKings. The White Sox can put nine righties in their batting order, but they are a bad offense, and almost every batter on the team strikes out at an above average rate.

Hitters

Bryce Harper

Harper will face Julio Teheran in SunTrust Park. In his career, Terehan has given up a .267 wOBA to righties, but a .342 wOBA to lefties. Harper will have the platoon advantage and is one of the top bets for a home run. The Nationals have the second highest team run total on the slate, so I expect Harper to have a good shot at both runs and RBIs in this matchup.

Joey Gallo

Gallo will face Kendall Graveman and is still too cheap. Plenty of DFS players will avoid him in cash games because of the risk of a zero and his high strikeout rate, but upside matters if you’re playing head-to-heads. Gallo has as much upside as any hitter with his power, so I’ll continue to play him against mediocre righties until his price rises.

Cardinals Bats

Just like yesterday, Cardinals bats are too cheap on DraftKings. They are all priced at $4K or less, will play at Miller Park, and face Chase Anderson who overachieved last season. Stacking the top four Cardinals bats will create upside in tournaments, while also allowing you to spend up on an additional stack, or a top pitcher.
