Pitchers

Yu Darvish

Darvish will face the Brewers in Miller Park. Especially if Christian Yelich remains sidelined, Darvish is my favorite pitcher on the early slate. He is priced at $9,700 which seems fair, but might be a deal considering where other top pitchers are priced. The Brewers can put up runs, but have been ice cold over their last few games. Darvish is a great tournament option, and will likely make my cash game lineups on Saturday.

Steven Matz

Matz has a tough matchup against the Nationals and has an OTT (see pitcher chart) of 4.5. Even with these negatives, Matz is in consideration in tournaments because he’s priced at $5,800 on DraftKings. Most season-long projection systems have Matz’s ERA around 4.00 this year with a K/9 around 8.0. Those are good numbers for someone priced so low.

Gerrit Cole

On the main slate, Cole is the top pitcher. He’s the biggest favorite, has the lowest OTT and will face a weak Padres offense. The Padres won’t strike out as much as many people think, but Cole should be able to keep them from crossing the plate. With fairly cold weather in Coors Field, it’s more likely that I’ll pay up for Cole than it would be if this was a July Coors game. At the same time, Cole is $12,300 on DraftKings making him overpriced. Lineups will determine whether it will be worth paying up for Cole in cash games.

Hitters

I didn’t have to for a full write up, but here are some of the bats who have made my early lineups.
