Clayton Kershaw

If you’re playing a slate where Kershaw is available, he’s the top option. He’s a heavy favorite, has a great ballpark, and has the lowest team run total. Unfortunately, he’s not on the main slate on DraftKings.

Jose Quintana

Quintana is one of my favorite tournament plays on the main slate. He was beat up in his first start, scoring negative DraftKings points, so his ownership should be a bit lower than it should be. The Brewers are an offense with upside, but have plenty of strikeouts in their lineup. After an $11,700 price tag for his first start, he’s now $8,500 on DraftKings.

Luke Weaver

Weaver gets no love with his pricing. He’s priced at a huge bargain at $6,800 on DraftKings. Weaver is a quality pitcher, and will face the Diamondbacks who take a huge park hit traveling to Busch Stadium. He has an OTT of just 3.5 (see pitcher chart), and is a moderate favorite. Weaver will likely be my SP2 for cash games and will be a staple in my tournament lineups.

Hitters

Orioles Bats

The Orioles face off against Jordan Montgomery in this matchup. Montgomery is a good pitcher and a heavy favorite in this matchup, but the Orioles bats are underpriced on DraftKings. There is a healthy wind blowing out to right field which should help the hitters as well. Trey Mancini, Manny Machado, Jonathan Schoop and Adam Jones will all have the platoon advantage and will hit in the top four of the order. I’m not considering them for cash games, but I like the upside of the Orioles in tournaments.

Matt Carpenter

Carpenter will see pitches from Taijuan Walker in Busch Stadium. The ballpark isn’t great, but Carpenter will have the platoon advantage and is batting third. He’s priced at $3,300 and on a day where none of the high-priced first baseman project well, Carpenter makes a lot of sense for the value he provides. He’s a quality cash game play, but I also like him for tournaments because I think his ownership will be low.

George Springer/Astros

The Astros will match up against Tyson Ross in Minute Maid Park. They have a team run total of five, and Ross is no longer a good pitcher. Ross is also slow to the plate, so base runners should be able to steal a few bases in this game. Springer is my favorite Astros bat today, but Carlos Correa, and Jose Altuve are in play as well.

Cleveland Bats

In cash games, my lineup will likely feature Cleveland bats against Jason Hammel. Jason Kipnis is always underpriced, and Michael Brantley is priced lower than his talent. Francisco Lindor and Jose Ramirez are priced appropriately, but are still quality cash game plays. While Cleveland bats are great for cash games today, they also have enough upside for a tournament stack at relatively low ownership.
