Max Scherzer

Scherzer will pitch at home in Nationals Park and will face the Braves. He is the biggest favorite on the slate, and is tied with Noah Syndergaard for the lowest OTT (see pitcher chart). Scherzer has an elite strikeout rate and will have the highest strikeout projection. The only issue is he’s expensive and there’s a Coors game on the slate. Usually this means I’ll try to pay down to fit in Coors bats, but with the colder weather in Coors lately, Scherzer looks like he might be worth paying for.

Miles Mikolas

Mikolas pitched against the Brewers in his last start, recording 14.6 DK points. He’ll face the Brewers again, without Christian Yelich this time, and will pitch in a much better park. Mikolas was stung by three home runs in Miller Park, but that is much less likely to happen in Busch Stadium. The Brewers have been one of the coldest team in baseball, getting shut out in three of their past five games. Mikolas is at worst a solid GPP play and may make it onto my cash game team depending on weather, umpires and lineups.

Garrett Richards

Richards will pitch in Globe Life Park against the Rangers. Last outing, Richards recorded 27.2 DK points against Cleveland and will now face a team with plenty of strikeouts in their lineup and a wOBA in the bottom third of the league. Richards is priced way below his talent level, making him a value play in cash games, and an upside play in tournaments.

Hitters

Nolan Arenado/Rockies Righties

Whenever Arenado faces a lefty in Coors Field, he’s almost an auto-play. He’ll face Clayton Richards on Monday and is the highest projected player on the slate. He’s expensive, priced at $5,700 on DraftKings, but I’ve been able to fit him into my cash game lineup builds by going cheaper at SP2. Trevor Story and Chris Ianetta are also firmly in play for cash games at their prices. The rest of the Rockies righties are in play in tournaments, but aren’t as likely to make my cash game rosters.

Michael Conforto

Conforto will face Jose Urena in Marlins Park. He’ll have the platoon advantage and is priced at $4,000 on DraftKings. Conforto will hit at the top of the order, and will have plenty of chances to score. The Mets have a team run total of 4.5 which is high, considering the ballpark. Jay Bruce is also in play as he has one of the highest home run projections on the slate.

Notes

  • Clayton Richard has a wide platoon split, so I’ll be fading Charlie Blackmon at his $5,900 price tag.
  • Mike Trout and Justin Upton are two of my favorite tournament plays against Doug Fister.
  • I currently have 0 Padres in my cash game lineup.
