Max Scherzer
Scherzer will face the Orioles in Nationals Park. He’s the biggest favorite and has the lowest OTT on the slate. The last time Scherzer pitched against the Orioles, he put up 44.2 DK points. This time, the Orioles will lose their DH, creating an even better matchup for Scherzer. At a price of $14,500 on DraftKings, he’s extremely expensive, but he may still be the top cash game option.
Tyler Skaggs
Skaggs will face the Blue Jays in Angels Stadium. He’s pitched well over his last three starts, recording 22 strikeouts while allowing only one earned run. He’s priced at $10,700, a step down from the top two aces on the slate. The Blue Jays take a park hit, and Skaggs has an OTT of just 3.5. I don’t think I’ll play Skaggs in cash games, but I’ll play him in tournaments and hope he keeps his 25+ DK point streak alive.
James Paxton
Paxton will face the Yankees in Yankee Stadium. The Yankees are a tough matchup and Paxton is an underdog with an OTT of four. That being said, he costs only $8,300 on DraftKings. Ten days ago, he was priced at $12,500. Whenever there is a drastic drop in price in a short period of time, I’m interested at least in tournaments. In cash games, Paxton is risky, but he may be one of the top value plays on the slate.

Hitters
Coors Breakdown
If you’re playing the early slate, it’s a full Coors stack for cash games. I currently have seven Coors bats in my lineup. With limited pitching options, I’m starting my cash games with my bats. I love the right-handed bats for the Rockies, but I also think Charlie Blackmon is a lock in cash games. On the Mets side, there are no locks, but Asdrubal Cabrera, Wilmer Flores and Devin Mesoraco are the top options given their prices. On the all-day slate where Scherzer is the pitching option, I’ll have no salary for the top Rockies bats. The only bats I’m considering are Wilmer Flores and either of the catchers from the game.
Ian Happ/Cubs Lefties
On the main slate, Happ is one of the locks in my cash game lineup assuming he’s batting in the top five. He’ll face Matt Harvey in Great American Ballpark and is priced at $3,700. It’s a great park for power and Harvey has allowed a .393 wOBA to lefties this year. I can’t afford Anthony Rizzo or Kyle Schwarber in cash games, but they both make great tournament plays if you feel like fading Scherzer. A full Cubs stack is one of my favorite options as part of a Scherzer fade.
Oakland A’s
The A’s will face Lucas Giolito in Guaranteed Rate Field. Giolito has a 7.19 ERA and a 6.19 SIERA this season. The A’s have the highest team run total on the main slate and have some affordable options to slot into Scherzer lineups. Marcus Siemian is my favorite bat from this matchup, but I’m also considering Matt Olson, Dustin Fowler and Chad Pinder (if he makes the lineup). Khris Davis missed yesterday’s game due to illness, but if he plays, he has the highest upside of anyone on the slate.
