Luis Severino

Severino will face the Mets in Yankee Stadium. He is a big favorite, even against Jacob deGrom, and is tied for the lowest OTT (see pitcher chart) on the slate. The Mets have the eighth highest strikeout rate this season and rank 24th in wRC+. They will add a DH in this series, but that won’t scare me off of Severino. Priced at $11,800, I may not end up with him in cash games, but will have some tournament exposure.

Clayton Kershaw

Kershaw faces the Giants in Dodger Stadium. The Giants are tied with the Mets for the eighth highest strikeout rate at 22.7%, and Kershaw is tied with Severino with an OTT of three. Kershaw is the biggest favorite on the slate, and won’t have to face a DH. He also costs $1,800 less than Severino. We’re not seeing the dominate Kershaw of the past, but at $10,000, I’m strongly considering him for cash games.

Andrew Heaney

Heaney will match up against the Padres in Petco Park. Traveling to the National League, Heaney will face Clayton Richard instead of a DH. He has an OTT of 3.5 in this matchup, and the Padres strike out at the second highest rate in the league. Priced at $8,400, I like Heaney as an SP2 pair with Kershaw for cash games, and would consider him as an SP1 in bat-heavy tournament rosters.

Hitters

Diamondbacks Bats

The Diamondbacks will face Bartolo Colon in Globe Life Park. They’ll add a DH in this series, boosting their offense. They have a team run total of 5.5, highest on the slate by a fairly wide margin. Colon has a low strikeout rate and has allowed 1.80 HR/9 this season. His 4.76 SIERA is nothing to be afraid of, so I’ll want to load my cash game lineups with Diamondbacks. Paul Goldschmidt is a lock in cash games at $4,700 on DraftKings. He’s the best hitter on his team and is priced below both A.J. Pollock and David Peralta. I love the value he provides at first base. I won’t own Peralta in cash games considering he’s vastly overpriced. He costs $1,000 more than Goldschmidt making him a potentially low owned tournament play in a high powered stack. A.J. Pollock and Steven Souza are priced fairly, and I’ll likely have both of them in cash games. Finally, Daniel Descalso and Eduardo Escobar are slightly overpriced, but both fill scarce positions, making it likely I used one of them in my lineup. While highly owned, I like the Diamondbacks as a stack, especially a wrap around stack using the bottom of the order, Peralta, and Goldschmidt.

Jose Ramirez/Cleveland

Even at $6,000 on DraftKings, Ramirez is my favorite third base play for cash games. He leads third base projections by about two points, making it difficult to pass on him. In tournaments, Cleveland is one of the top stacks against Homer Bailey in Great American Ballpark. They’ll lose their DH, but Bailey has served up 1.91 HR/9 this season. Ramirez has as much power as anyone on Cleveland and has the highest home run projection on the slate. I love him for cash games, and will have Cleveland bats scattered throughout my tournament lineups.
