DFS MLB DraftKings Lineup Advice for 5/12/21

The crazy times are still ongoing, between the weather, covid, and injuries. Always a tough task to build lineups the night before, and then sometimes even tougher not to make too many changes before first pitch. I have found more often than not, that going with my original thought is the way to go. Wednesday’s main slate features 11 games. Let’s dive in…..

Pitchers

Top-tier |

Gerrit Cole (NYY) 10,500 @ TB

One of the few certified aces that is pitching today. Hard to fit in your lineups with the price tag but i will certainly be doing so anywhere possible. Safe to assume he will be trying his hardest to rebound, coming off his worst start of the season vs Hou. This start he gets a TB team that he took into the sixth inning a few weeks ago and racked up over 26 points. The one team that he has faced twice this season was TOR and he improved by over 10 points the second time facing them. Offering a safe floor because of strikeout and win potential for cash games and small gpps, but might want to look elsewhere for large-field tournaments.

Julio Urias (LAD) 8,700 vs SEA

This is a stone-cold lock for me. In his best outing of the season a few weeks ago he absolutely dominated this team. Needing only 88 pitches and racking up 11 strikeouts in 7 innings, I am looking for a repeat performance. The Angels got to him in his last start, which leads me to believe he will fix what was wrong and go back to what recently worked. Also, Sea has one of the worst lineups in baseball. Even their core hitters are not performing well right now. (as I’m typing this Haniger of course hit a solo bomb)

Value-tier |

Hynn Jin Ryu (TOR) 7,100 @ ATL

Coming from a Braves fan, it pains me to type this part. Always a possibility that ATL’s bats wake up and ruin Ryu and our lineups. ATL has only averaged 4.5 runs in their last 10 games, so they are far from hot currently. Ryu has scored over 15 points in all but one this season where he had a short game versus the Red Sox. Defiantly a risk-reward type of play here but that is exactly what you need to pay off in order to win a tournament. If i cant fit one of the above-mentioned, Ryu will be my third choice for sure.

Justin Turner 6,000

Max Muncy 5,500

Chris Taylor 4,800

Red Sox Hitters

Alex Verdugo 4,100

Marvin Gonzalez 3,800

Kevin Plawecki 2,800

Red Sox stack will be one of the popular plays tonight. These three hitters are contrarian enough to use. The Dodgers bats are my favorite and will be less popular because of the price and late start time.

Good Luck!
