DFS MLB DraftKings Lineup Advice for 7/9

Heading into the last weekend before the all-start break next week, DFS players are being treated to a very full night of baseball consisting of fourteen games. Hitting will be in high demand, as only three pitchers have averaged more than 17 FPTS/game on the season. These three, Alex Manoah(Blue Jays), Zach Thompson(Marlins) and Max Kranick(Pirates) have combined to pitch only 65 innings this year.

Pitchers

Top-tier

Wade Miley(Reds) $9700 @ Brewers 6-4 record with a 3.06 ERA/1.16 WHIP for the season. Despite only averaging 7.36 strikeouts per nine innings, Miley has continued to put up a solid stat line and will be one of my top two pitchers for this slate.

Marcus Stroman(Mets) $8700 vs Mets averaging an identical strikeouts per nine innings(7.36) as Miley, Stroman has put up solid stats throughout the season(6-5/2.55 ERA/1.10 WHIP). Despite DFS favoring high strikeout performances, Stroman will also be a reliable option.

Vladimir Guerrero JR(1B-Blue Jays) $5600 @ Rays .341 BA/28 HR/73 RBI’s. Although Guerrero could be listed in this article every night, I try to list him when his price tag is outside of the top five first basemen(7th on this slate).

Jose Altuve(2B-Astros) $4900 vs Yankees -282 BA/19 HR/52 RBI’s

Bo Bichette(SS-Blue Jays) $5k at Rays .295 BA/16 HR/57 RBI’s

Nick Castellanos(OF-Reds) $5100 @ Brewers .335 BA/17 HR/54 RBI’s

Stacks

My two favorite stacks for this slate are the Blue Jays and the Astros. The Astros host the Yankees(Nestor Cortes), while the Blue Jays travel to face the Rays(Shane McClanahan). Both Nestor(1.29 ERA/1.00 WHIP over 21 innings pitched) and McClanahan(4.18 ERA/1.23 WHIP) carry above average peripherals into the game. With that being said, both the Blue Jays and Astros(two good hitting teams) carry outstanding price points for several of their players.

In addition to Altuve, Guerrero Jr and Bichette, there are several other players on both teams that provide good value. These include: 1)Yuli Gurriel(1B-Astros $4600); 2) Carlos Correa(SS-Astros $4700); 3) Yordan Alvarez(OF-Astros $4800); 4) George Springer(OF-Blue Jays $4500); and 5) Teoscar Hernandez(OF-Blue Jays $4300). When the opportunity arises, I would suggest building a stack from these two teams. One opportunity would be to minimize the amount of salary cap used on pitching options and transfer the leftover money to insert these players in your lineup.
