MLB DFS Pitcher Chart & Lineup Advice – 8/22/2017

Last Updated: 8/22/2017 – 9:21 AM CT

The pitcher chart is located under my top plays!

Top Plays

Chris Archer

Archer is the biggest favorite on the slate, facing the Blue Jays in Tropicana Field. He has the lowest OTT on the slate, and the Blue Jays rank just 23rd in wRC+ against righties. The Blue Jays only strike out 20.7% of the time against righties, but their offense should be suppressed a bit by the park downgrade. I like Archer, but haven’t decided whether to pay for him in cash games yet.

Jeff Samardzija

Samardzija will face the Brewers in AT&T Park. The Brewers strike out 25.6% of the time against righties, highest in the league. The Brewers rank 19th in wRC+ against righties and do most of their damage via the home run. AT&T Park is one of the worst parks for home runs in the major leagues, which should help Samardzija. The Brewers team run total is just four, so if Samardzija can keep them off the board, he has plenty of upside in this matchup. I’m considering Samardzija in both cash games and tournaments.

Kyle Schwarber/Anthony Rizzo/Cubs

The Cubs are my favorite offense of the day facing Homer Bailey in Great American Ball Park. Bailey gives up 0.73 HR/9 on the road, but has given up 3.31 HR/9 at home this year and 3.68 HR/9 against lefties at home. While these samples are too small to be truly predictive, it does demonstrate the upside the Cubs have in this matchup. Schwarber is locked into my cash games lineup and Rizzo is a near lock. I’m also considering Javier Baez, Alex Avila, and Kris Bryant in cash games. Because of the upside in the offense, I’m looking to create multiple Cubs stacks in tournaments.

Robinson Cano/Kyle Seager

If you used Cano and Seager on Monday, they were slightly disappointing, but the thought process remains the same. They’ll face a weak righty in a solid ballpark for lefties. Seager is one of the best values on the slate. He’s been cold lately, but considering his price, I’ll likely overlook his cold streak. Cano isn’t as good of a play as Seager since his price is $4,900 on DraftKings, but he is the highest projected second-baseman. If I have the salary, I’ll fit Cano in my lineup, but I won’t force exposure to him.

Notes

Mike Trout is the top bat on the main slate and will be in my cash game lineups once again.

If you’re playing the all-day slate, Giancarlo Stanton actually projects to score about 1.5 DK points more than Trout. This makes Stanton the first player locked into my lineups on the all-day slate, even before pitchers.

If I don’t end up paying for Chris Archer, Danny Duffy is the pitcher I’m considering.

The pitching chart will be updated often. Make sure to check back for the newest information, especially if a column is currently incomplete!
