DFS MLB FanDuel Cash Lineup Advice 05/16/2017

Welcome to the Tuesday edition of the MLB Fanduel Cash Game Article. Tonight he have an excellent 13 game slate and at the moment it does not appear there are many weather concerns. As always, please make sure you check the weather and the team lineups as they are released. Let’s go ahead and take a look at my favorite cash game options for tonight on FanDuel.

Pitcher

Yu Darvish TEX: $10,600 vs. PHI
After having zero reliable starting pitchers on last night’s main slate, there are several top dollar options who we should feel comfortable using tonight in cash games. Yu Darvish is at the top of the list for me with a 9.06 K/9 and a 2.98 ERA through his first eight starts of the 2017 season. Tonight he has a decent matchup against the Phillies, who rank near the middle of the pack in wRC+ and 7th in K% against right-handed hitters.

Zack Greinke ARI $10,300 vs. NYM
It appears that Zack Greinke has figured out how to pitcher in the extreme hitter’s park of Chase Field with a quality start in each of his five at home in 2017. Furthermore, he has an elite K/9 of 10.10 and should be able to keep the heavy left-handed Mets’ order in check considering he has only allowed a 0.285 wOBA to lefties so far in 2017.

Catcher

Gary Sanchez NYY: $3,400 @ KC
If you have enough salary to pay up for a mid-priced catcher, consider using Gary Sanchez tonight. Sanchez typically hits in the two-hole for the Yankees and he has done well against right-handed pitchers this season with a 0.349 wOBA. Jason Hammel on the other hand has really struggled against right-handed hitters this season, allowing a 0.341 wOBA.

Willson Contreras CHC: $2,600 vs. CIN
Willson Contreras has been one of the only bright spots lately for the surprisingly struggling Cubs’ offense. In their series with the Cardinals over the weekend, Contreras had three hits in two starts, including two home runs on Friday. The wind is expected to be howling out at Wrigley tonight which means that Bronson Arroyo and his 43.2% fly ball rate could be prone to a few home runs.

First Base
Anthony Rizzo CHC: $3,900 vs. CIN
Anthony Rizzo has really been struggling so far in 2017, but I think he will turn the corner soon considering his BABIP is only sitting at 0.216 right now. As I mentioned above with Contreras, the weather conditions will likely be extremely favorable for hitters tonight in Chicago.

Yuleski Gurriel HOU: $2,500 @ MIA
My favorite value option at first base tonight is Yulieski Gurriel. Gurriel has been hitting well over the past week and against right-handed pitchers this season with a 0.376 wOBA and a 0.172 ISO. Normally we would like to attack Tom Koehler with left-handed hitters, but he has allowed quite a bit of hard contact against righties as well, with a 36.5% hard contact rate.

Second Base

Daniel Murphy WAS: $3,800 @ PIT
Daniel Murphy has been outstanding against right-handed pitchers over the past few seasons and currently has a 0.392 wOBA and 0.215 ISO against righties in 2017. Chad Kuhl has absolutely dreadful against left-handed hitters this year, allowing a ridiculous 0.497 wOBA in his seven starts.

Jed Lowrie OAK: $2,300 @ SEA
So FanDuel raised Jed Lowrie’s salary up to nearly $3,000 last night and now he’s back down to $2,300 tonight. Maybe FanDuel knows something about Chase De Jong that we don’t? Jong has been terrible this season in three starts and has allowed a 0.423 wOBA to left-handed hitters.

Third Base

Manny Machado BAL: $3,700 @ DET
Manny Machado has been mashing left-handed pitching this season with a 0.378 wOBA, 0.310 ISO and a 58.3% hard contact rate. Matt Boyd has not been that great this year and has allowed a 38.7% hard contact rate against right-handed hitters.

Nick Castellanos DET: $3,200 vs. BAL
I feel like I could essentially copy and paste what I wrote about Machado and just replace the names. Nick Castellanos has been solid this year against left-handed pitchers with a 0.342 wOBA, 0.267 ISO and a 50.0% hard contact rate. Wade Miley has been decent this season, but he is not someone who we need to totally avoid tonight.

Shortstop

Chris Owings ARI: $3,300 vs. NYM
I already mentioned how we can pick on Milone tonight, and Chris Owings is another Diamondbacks hitter who we can use. Owings has been outstanding against left-handed pitchers this season with a 0.415 wOBA and a 0.205 ISO while typically hitting in the two hole in front of Goldy. On top of that, Owings has been running quite a bit this season with eight stolen bases. If you do need to save some additional salary, you could also drop down to his teammate, Nick Ahmed, who has also done really well against left-handed pitchers this season.

Alcides Escobar KC: $2,300 vs. NYY
If you need a punt option at shortstop tonight, then Alcides Escobar is the way to go. His numbers are not going to jump off of the paper at you, but the Royals have moved him back to the leadoff spot recently, so his salary has not adjusted yet. He has a solid matchup against C.C. Sabathia tonight, who has allowed a 0.343 wOBA to right-handed hitters this season.

Outfielders

Yasmany Tomas ARI: $3,300 vs. NYM
Another Diamondbacks’ hitter who we can use tonight is Yasmany Tomas. His numbers against left-handed pitchers this season don’t appear to be great, but it appears that he has been unlucky against lefties so far. Tomas has a 40.0% hard contact percentage rate and was great against lefties in 2016.

Jacoby Ellsbury NYY: $3,400/ Brett Gardner NYY: $3,600 @ KC
Both Jacoby Ellsbury and Brett Gardner are in play tonight against Jason Hammel. Hammel has been much worse against right-handed hitters this season, but he has by no means been great against left-handed pitchers, with a 0.311 wOBA.

Khris Davis OAK: $3,000/ Matt Joyce OAK: $2,800 @ SEA
I already mentioned how we can attack Jong and both Khris Davis and Matt Joyce are solid, mid/value options who we can use tonight.
