DFS NASCAR DraftKings Lineup Advice: New Hampshire Picks 9/24/17

Last week at Chicagoland Speedway, Martin Truex Jr. won the Tales of the Turtles 400 to win the first race of the playoffs. He automatically qualifies for the next elimination round. In this first round, there are two more races, New Hampshire and Dover, where the field of sixteen drivers will be cut to twelve.   This weekend’s race is the ISM Connect 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway located in Loudon, NH.    This short flat track is an 1.058 mile oval, and similar comparable racetracks are Martinsville and Phoenix.  Qualifying position is extremely important at this track as it is difficult to pass overall.

My Top 5 Drivers for the ISM Connect 300

Martin Truex Jr.($10,500):   Truex won last week at Chicagoland and qualified for the next round.  He has finished at the top in victory lane five times this year.  He will still have motivation to win, as a Truex win would steal an automatic qualifying position from a tough competitor.   He is also the Laps Lead leader in the past three races at New Hampshire.  He is a must start in your cash lineup like in every race this year.

Kyle Larson($9,500):  In the past, Larson used to bomb at short tracks like New Hampshire.  However, in the past two years, he has vastly improved his short track skills.  In an interview after qualifying, he mentioned that he used to dread coming to tracks like New Hampshire, but he now embraces the short track challenges as he is encouraged by his improvements.   For example, in the summer New Hampshire race, he ran out of laps to catch Denny Hamlin and finished 2nd.    He had the fastest car in the first practice this week, and he qualified in the 2nd position.   Surprisingly, he is $1,000 less than Martin Truex Jr. in price.

Kyle Larson New Hampshire

Denny Hamlin($9,900):  Hamlin is a short track specialist.   He won the summer New Hampshire race, and has an 8.2 average finish in the past five races at this track.  He is also very good at Martinsville, a similar short flat track.    Hamlin showed great speed in qualifying, nailing down the 3rd position.

Kyle Busch($10,700):  Kyle Busch starts off the week at New Hampshire in a dominating position by qualifying for the crucial pole position at this track.   He was also the 2nd fastest car in the first practice behind Kyle Larson.   He has seven Top 10 finishes in the past nine races at this track.   He is a must start for your cash lineup as he will pile up the Laps Lead points out in front in the clean air.

Kyle Busch Pole Position New Hampshire

Matt Kenseth($9,400):   Kenseth is the top performer in the past five races at New Hampshire with an average finish of 2.8.    He posted back to back New Hampshire wins with a victory in the fall 2015 race, and the summer 2016 race.   In the fall 2016 race, he finished 2nd, and also finished 4th in this year’s summer race to continue his impressive performance.     With his stellar performance at this track, Kenseth could easily score a Top 3 finish.

Value Picks

Kasey Kahne($7,400):  Kasey Kahne shown pretty good speed this week on the practice track.  He was the 3rd fastest car in the first practice and qualified in the Top 10.   He has won this race before, and is a great value at $7,400 for a Top 10 qualifier.

Ryan Newman($7,200):   Newman is a savvy veteran on short tracks.   He is a tough driver to pass, and it will be even tougher to pass Newman in New Hampshire.   At at track where Newman has won three times, he is a great value at $7,200.

Sleeper Pick

Joey Logano($8,700):   Logano had problems during qualifying, failing inspection.  Because he failed inspection, he could not get his car on the track to run a qualifying lap which starts him in the very back in the 39th position.   Logano has finished in the Top 10 in four out of the last six races, and has won at this race track twice.   New Hampshire is his home track, where he made his very first start for Joe Gibbs Racing.   His very first win also came here at New Hampshire.   While it is long odds to win from the 39th position at New Hampshire, Kyle Larson almost did it in the last race as he finished 2nd, while starting 39th also.    Logano will certainly move up the field to get some Place Differential points for your lineup.
