DFS NBA DraftKings Lineup Advice 1/31/19
While I prefer to spice up the front section with comedy, and some self defacing humor, at times I think it’s important to discuss a little strategy. What separates DFS players who win money from those who do not is knowledge. To be successful in the world of DFS, one needs to know about individual players, but more importantly teams. Who plays at a slow grinding pace that hurts fantasy value (i.e. Memphis, Utah)? Who speeds up the game adding possessions and areas for players to up their usage rates (i.e. Atlanta, Sacramento, Phoenix)?, with that we move forward to the picks.
Top Plays
Joel Embiid (10,100 DK) @ Golden State
I’ll admit with Boogie Cousins in the fold, I don’t like this matchup as much as I would if he were out. That being said, the Process is matchup proof, and 10,100 DK is a lower price then we have seen for him in quite some time. Double the value here if Jimmy Butler does not play again for some reason.
LaMarcus Aldridge (8300 DK) versus Brooklyn
LaMarcus Aldridge has been on a tear recently, and the idea of DeMarre Carroll or Rondae Hollis-Jefferson trying to defend him does not strike fear in my heart (it shouldn’t in yours either). 8300 DK is a steal for LaMarcus Aldridge here and if DeRozan is out again, this pick is even better!
Value Plays
JaVale McGee (4500 DK) @ L.A. Clippers
Whoops, I did it again. I picked JaVale McGee. All he did the last time I picked him, 42.5 fantasy points at 4200 DK. While he might not quite put up those numbers this time, the matchup against the Clippers is a good one for him, and he should easily reach value here.
Reggie Jackson (4700 DK) versus Dallas
Friends don’t let friends roster Reggie Jackson, at least they shouldn’t. I will however, make an exception here with the horrendous defense of Dennis Smith Jr. Reggie is averaging 35 fantasy points per game over his last two, and while he won’t necessarily match that here, 25 to 30 fantasy points should occur easily.

Kyle Lowry (7100 DK) versus Milwaukee
7100 is typically too cheap for Kyle Lowry, but he has not been in the best of form recently. If you read any DFS Basketball Column with any frequency you are well aware how good defensively Eric Bledsoe and the Bucks are. I just don’t see it happening for Lowry here, and his cheap price cannot persuade me.
Klay Thompson (5800 DK) versus Philadelphia
Klay has been struggling recently, and his price is the lowest we have seen in quite some time. While there is always the potential for him to have a big game and shoot the lights out, Jimmy Butler is a tough matchup for him and its hard to imagine he will be the Warriors go to guy in a tough game against the 76ers.
