Welcome to the Monday edition of my DFS NBA Draftings advice. I hope everyone enjoyed the Super Bowl last night, sorry Chief fans and Tom Brady haters. The NBA takes front and center now. No more NFL to distract us. I haven’t been able to put the spreadsheet up as much as I would have liked over the last week or so, but I should be able to get one posted for today, so be sure you check here later today. Good luck…

DFS NBA DraftKings Lineup Advice 2/8/21

Nothing But Net | Zach LaVine (CHI) $8,900 vs. WAS

Breaking news, Washington is not good at defense. Okay, not so breaking, but they are downright terrible. The fun part for us is that they are the fastest-paced team in the league and are tied for the eighth-highest scoring team. That means, they are going to score a lot of points, there will be a lot of possessions in the game for the other team to score, and they can’t stop the other team from scoring. It’s a win-win-win.

Dunk | Coby White (CHI) $6,400 vs. WAS

Half-Court Shot | Raul Neto (WAS) $3,000 @ CHI

I think at $3,000, Neto can be a decent play even if Russell Westbrooks plays in the second half of a back-to-back. If Westbrook doesn’t play, Neto is a free square in cash and will be highly owned.

Blocked Shot | LaMelo Ball (CHA) $8,300 vs. HOU

I’m still getting used to thinking of the Rockets as a good defense. They’ve been terrible for so long, I feel compelled to play their opposition, but only the Lakers have a better defensive rating on a per 100 possession basis than do the Rockets (per NBA.com).

DFS NBA DraftKings Lineup Advice 2/8/21

Nothing But Net | Giannis Antetokounmpo (MIL) $10,900 @ DEN

With the current information I have as I write this, I only have two players projected over 60 DK points tonight, Luka Doncic and the Greek Freak. This is the type of game that the Freak can thrive in, in fact, the most recent matchup with Denver, Giannis went for 71 DK points. In was over a year ago, but still, 71 is 71.

Dunk | Hamidou Diallo (OKC) $6,000 @ LAL

Despite coming off the bench in their last game, Diallo logged his third straight 30-30 game, 30 DK points and 30-plus minutes. Even at his higher price of $6,000, you will still take 30-plus points. He doesn’t have the huge upside you’re looking for in tournaments, but his price makes him a solid play overall.

Half-Court Shot | Juan Toscano-Anderson (GS) $4,500 @ SAS

With James Wiseman still out, JTA will once again log 25-to-35 minutes, and, if he does, I have him projected for about 25 DK points — with upside for more.

Blocked Shot | Draymond Green (GS) $6,800 @ SAS

A lot of people will be looking at his DK points in his last two games and think this is an easy smash play. But, if you dig deeper, he had 15 assists in both games — that’s not a pattern I want to chase. Especially now that his price has risen to $6,800.

  2. Dorian Finney-Smith $4,300 vs. MIN
  3. Kristaps Porzingis $8,400 vs. MIN

Centers

DFS NBA DraftKings Lineup Advice 2/8/21

Nothing But Net | Andre Drummond (CLE) $8,200 @ PHO

Drummond as my top center is more about the choices around him. I’ve already written of the Freak, I don’t like Jokic tonight (see below), and Anthony Davis is too hard for me to trust. That leaves Drummond and Porzingis, both of whom I like tonight. For what it’s worth, Drummond had 68 DK points the last time he played the Suns when he was a member of the Pistons. Probably doesn’t mean much in this game, but it was worth mentioning.

Dunk | DeMarcus Cousins (HOU) $7,100 @ CHA

Christian Wood is still out and Cousins’ price tag has not caught up with his minutes and production yet. The Hornets give up the seventh most points to centers and we all know what kind of upside he has, especially if he hits a few three-pointers.

Half-Court Shot | Maxi Kleber (DAL) $4,500 vs. MIN

No one gives up more points to the center position than do the Timberwolves who give up 63.43 DK points (per FantasyPros.com). I currently have Kleber projected for about 28 minutes and scoring about 24 DK points. The upside potential is there as we just saw against the Warriors where he had 34 DK points.

Blocked Shot | Nikola Jokic (DEN) $11,100 vs. MIL

In two games agains the Bucks last season, Jokic really struggled. He averaged a mere 38.4 DK points in those two games, and the fact that he is the most expensive player on the slate, I think I’ll be avoiding him tonight.
