DFS NBA Fanduel Lineup Advice 2/7/19
Hello all. Before we begin, I think it’s appropriate that we give our condolences and well wishes to Harrison Barnes. Mark Cuban had zero chill and decided to trade him mid-game. I’m not a Dallas fan but damn….that hurts. Moving on to today, trades for the most part should be finalized as there were quite a few knocked out yesterday. Any that happen today will occur well before the lock so no need to worry. On that note, today’s slate figures to have a full day of competitive games and an anticipated renewal of the BOS/LAL rivalry so without further ado, let’s get to it.
Point Guard
Trae Young – $7,100 vs TOR
Young has been proven to be a steady and reliable producer for fantasy owners everywhere. To start the year, he’s fallen under 25 fdp just twice in 17 games. He’s been close to a lock for 30 in your lineups and has recently had breakout performances against Portland and Utah. He can be pretty frustrating to start games but more times than not, he’s helping you win some cash. People are going to shy away from Trae because of a matchup against Lowry and Toronto but I think we have enough sample size to say that Trae can produce even in difficult matchups.
Rajon Rondo – $6,100 @ BOS
I’m not sure I even need to explain the play. You could choose from any given reason. It’s the most storied franchises in history playing against each other. It’s one AD chaser vs another. It’s LeBron vs Kyrie. In this case, it’s Rondo against his former team. I’m throwing out all stats on the window with this. The Lakers are in need of a spark right now and a matchup against Boston may be what they need to wake them up. I can’t imagine Rondo to be in any other mindset other than to be showing up Boston on their home court to get this team back on track. He is appropriately priced for this matchup and I’m locking him in everywhere.

Other options: Darren Collison, Jerryd Bayless, Patrick Beverley, DJ Augustin, Cory Joseph
Shooting Guards
CJ McCollum – $7,500 vs SA
What’s gotten into him lately? McCollum has now dropped 40+ fdp in each of his last three games but what’s surprising is that, aside from the last game, he has been scoring inside the arc. I generally avoid him as he’s one of the streakier scorers in the league and more scoring dependent but boy is he hot right now. San Antonio is 22nd in defensive efficiency and bottom half in the league at defending the perimeter so CJ McCollum should be able to continue his torrid pace in this game.

Terrence Ross – $5,500 vs MIN
Ross is one of the more underrated bench players in the league. The 9 year veteran has proven that he can do more than just dunk, providing a healthy amount of steals while shooting almost 38% from beyond the arc. With the Magic struggling to find consistent scoring outside Vuc and Gordon, Ross has stepped up to fill that void. On the season, MIN has been a top 10 matchup for opposing SGs and SFs so Ross should have no problem continuing his hot run. Even while dropping a couple 40s, he’s still sub 6k so grab him while you can.
Other options: Lou Williams, Justin Holiday, Marcus Smart, Kevin Huerter
Small Forwards
Jonathan Isaac – $5,800 vs MIN
Isaac has been a pleasant surprise the last couple weeks. All season, he’s been an inefficient PPM producer but a matchup against ATL has since turned him into a PPM machine, effectively bringing his price to where it is now. The minutes have always been there for him so it’s good to finally see him start producing. He’ll avoid Taj Gibson in this one and instead face off against the likes of Wiggins and Okogie. With his length and size, he should easily be able to overpower them.
Bojan Bogdanovic – $5,700 vs LAC
I don’t think I’ve given him enough respect this season given his solid overall production. He’s been a capable scorer, especially from beyond the arc, and a solid role player. His lack of peripheral stats is usually what has driven me away from him. In today’s slate however, he profiles as one of the safer mid-tier plays at the position. The Clippers have zero defenders on the team outside of Beverley and are going to be especially shorthanded tomorrow with the newest additions not expected to play. It’s hard to envision him not hitting value in this spot.
Other options: Gordon Hayward, Tyreke Evans, Jake Layman, Davis Bertans, Luol Deng
Power Forwards
Jayson Tatum – $6,800 vs LAL
Tatum was due for a big performance and we finally got it in a matchup against CLE, going for 25 and 7 with 2 dimes and 3 blocks. Tonight is another great matchup for him to keep that momentum going. The Lakers have been torched by opposing forwards all season and I see no reason why Tatum can’t continue that trend in this matchup. The atmosphere of this game will be electric and the game figures to be rather competitive so I like Tatum’s chances of hitting value and then some.
Ivan Rabb – $6,300 @ OKC
What?! I’m listing this guy as a play against Adams? As bad as the matchup looks on paper, OKC has been leaking quite a few down to the 5 in the 2nd half of the season. In the last 15 games, the Thunder have allowed nearly 58 fantasy points per game to opposing centers. Memphis’s overall team defense usually keeps the team competitive even against teams like the Thunder so I’m not too worried about this being a blowout. With Gasol away from the team due to trade rumors and Noah banged up, Rabb will be forced to play big minutes once more.

Centers
Myles Turner – $7,500 vs LAC
Clippers have been the softest matchup for opposing centers this season, both stars and scrubs alike. Opposing bigs score at will, rebound at will, and block shots at a solid clip. Put that criteria to someone like Turner and you have something special. Turner is a 38% three pt shooter, an above average rebounder, and the league’s best shot blocker. It’s been a while since he last hit the big 5-0 but this could be the night.
Al Horford – $7,500 vs LAL
If his last game told us anything, it’s that he doesn’t need to score to be effective. He made just 4 shots but provided 6 boards and 8 dimes with 3 blocks for a solid 35. He finds himself in another great spot today against the Lakers. With McGee no longer in the starting lineup to defend the rim, Horford should be able to have his way with Zubac. It’s also important to note how noticeable Horford’s splits are. At home, quite literally every statistic increases, including a whopping 13% difference in shot efficiency. Pick your poison with Horford or Turner tonight.
Other options: Steven Adams, JaVale McGee
