Add another tally to the number of successful days from the article. If you built around the likes of DSJ, Wiggins, Oubre, and Whiteside, chances are you hit the jackpot. It’s been a nice few days but we still got a little time left before the All Star break so it’s no time to slack off. We got another solid 9 game slate on the docket and I already see a couple games that I want to target so let’s jump right in. As per usual, I won’t mention the obvious top tier plays and I will continue to add a rough draft at the end of each piece to help you all with your construction.

Point Guard

Darren Collison – $6,700 vs CLE

I don’t want to bore you with another section on why Young, Dunn, and DSJ are good plays so for the sake of differentiation, I’m putting down Collison. Collison finds himself in a fantasy friendly matchup today at home against the Cavaliers. While this game does pose a potential blowout risk, Collison contributes enough in all categories that he should be able to give us what we need before it gets out of hand. He’s also now once again below $7K so rostering him is slightly better to digest.

Patrick Beverley – $5,100 @ BOS

For a little while, we were just riding the wave of 30s and 40s and just waiting until the day Gallo returned to come off Beverley. Instead, we have Tobias leaving the picture which makes the situation a bit better better for Beverley as his increased role should continue to stay constant. He’s now down to a solid $5K and is in a game that caters to his defensive play style. While the current spread is rather large and predicts a blowout, I still believe that his minutes along with his needed defensive prowess against Kyrie will allow him to hit value. He’s strictly a GPP play.

Other options: Trae Young, Kris Dunn, Dennis Smith Jr., Cory Joseph, Fred VanVleet

Shooting Guards

Zach LaVine – $7,700 vs WAS

After a fairly bumpy 1st half of January, the former dunk champion has settled into a nice groove and chances are that that groove is going to continue on tonight. He gets a juicy home matchup against the Wizards who possess the 4th worst defense in the league in terms of efficiency. LaVine has scored 17+ in each of his last 9 outings and has been contributing a healthy amount of peripherals across the board. There is currently no O/U at the time of writing but this figures to be one of the best games to stack. LaVine is an excellent play in all formats.

Jaylen Brown – $5,200 vs LAC

At long last, we’re finally seeing some consistency out of him. After a solid year last season, he stumbled out of the gate and struggled to score but now it seems like he may have turned the corner. We’re seeing more double digit scoring performances and nights of 25+ fdp from the junior guard. While I would like to think that this game could be competitive, it could just as easily be a blowout. If that’s the case, I will definitely want some shares of Brown with a small increase in run against a soft defense. Either way, he makes for a strong overall play, more so in cash games.

Other options: Jeremy Lamb, Terrence Ross, Kevin Huerter, Iman Shumpert, Danny Green, David Nwaba

Small Forwards

Otto Porter – $6,900 vs WAS

This game could not have been scripted any better. Just days after swapping solid role players, the teams will now have to face each other in what should be a fun-filled evening. Chicago wasted no time to incorporate Porter into their lineup as he played 33 minutes and came through with an uber-efficient performance. This is a massive pace-up for all CHI players and emotions should be running high in this game. Porter is a great cash play and a very intriguing GPP option.

Bojan Bogdanovic – $5,700 vs CLE

Given the way he performed in the last slate, it’s only right to give him the respect he deserves. Just listing him solely as a someone who would hit value against the Clippers, he went out and put up one of his best performances on the season. More times than not, he’s among the top scorers for the Pacers and I don’t see that changing here. He gets yet another cake matchup against the Cavs, who are dead last in defensive efficiency and opponent field goal percentage. I’m going to go a bit further this time and say he should easily hit 6x and then some in the spot. Lock him in.

Jabari Parker – $3,900 @ CHI

The price is just too criminal to list him under “Other.” In just his first game with the Wizards, he posted a near triple double in just 23 minutes to go along with 3 steals while not turning it over once. Now you’re telling me, as a lock for 20+ minutes, that he’s going up against Chicago and his price didn’t even move? I just don’t see how Jabari isn’t in your line tonight unless you can find someone else at that price who has 40 pt upside. He’ll also serve as an excellent salary saver to help you pay up for the other stars on the slate.

Other options: Trevor Ariza, Jonathan Isaac, Nicolas Batum, Gordon Hayward

Power Forwards

John Collins – $7,400 vs CHA

Charlotte is just one of those teams that you target any and all bigs against. On the season, they’ve given up an average of nearly 49 fdp to opposing PFs, second only to Atlanta. Collins has arguably been the best player on the team in terms of consistency and upside and that upside looks pretty high tonight. Vegas has this at a 230 O/U with a 2 pt spread which should automatically put you on high alert to possibly stack this game. He’s been pretty subpar recently but this is definitely the bounce-back spot for him to get back on track.

Bobby Portis – $6,500 @ WAS

The position is absolutely stacked tonight and you really can’t go wrong with any of the mid-tier options but as you can probably tell by now, I’m in love with this game. Portis probably had the fastest start of any newly traded player this week, dropping a whopping 18 pts in under 10 minutes of play and finishing with 30 in total. With Chicago trading away Portis and Jabari and Carter Jr possibly done for the year, Chicago now doesn’t have a single backup PF to fill that role. Portis’ price is one of many that did not budge and I’m very glad that’s the case. I’ll go out on a limb and say that he’s a lock for value but I’m expecting another blowup performance for the 23 year old. To add to the intrigue, his birthday is tomorrow.

Other options: It’s impossible to only list a few alternatives at this position with it being as deep as it is. I like almost all options ranging all the way down to Morris (excluding Gordon in a matchup against Giannis and MIL defense). I wish I could narrow it down but there’s not one option that I can’t see hitting 30+. Outside of that range, PJ Tucker is on my radar as a safe option in a primetime game where rebounds and steals should be aplenty.

Centers

Al Horford – $7,500 vs LAC

You know the drill. Centers against the Clippers all day and every day. With no more Polish Hammer or Boban Monster to anchor the 5, the Clippers turned to Harrell and were subsequently slaughtered by Turner and the Pacers. Now it’s the Celtics’ turn to do the same. Myles Turner was able to swat 6 shots that day and considering that Horford has recorded a block in each of his last 7 contests, I think Horford should have no problem racking up the points in this one. As previously mentioned, this game could still be a blowout but with the amount of peripherals he provides along with the block upside, I’m not terribly concerned.

Brook Lopez – $5,300 vs ORL

There’s not much in terms of value down at the 5 but for the sake of putting a name down, Lopez seems like the most logical option for me. Zeller’s upside is quite limited and Bryant’s minutes are trending downwards by the game. Dedmon splits time with Len and Zizic has a terrible matchup. The last time these two teams met, Lopez struggled to get his shots going but was able to swat a season-high 6 shots. While I don’t love the spot for him, the game should be competitive enough to where he can compile enough stats to hit value. Once again, to emphasize the situation, the value pool here is pretty dry. It’s a day to pay up.

Other options: Steven Adams, Mitchell Robinson, Robin Lopez, Ivica Zubac (if active)
