DFS NFL FanDuel Week 7: Mini Slate Lineup Advice

Welcome to the Week 7 NFL FanDuel Mini article. In this article we will be taking a look at a relatively new slate that was introduced about half-way through the MLB season this year. Unlike ar9e traditional FanDuel NFL lineup, you only have to roster five players (QB, RB, RB, WR, WR) in the FanDuel Mini format. One other slight difference is that all tight ends also appear as wide receivers, so you do have the option of using a tight end if you choose to do so. The total salary cap ($60,000) is the exact same as a traditional NFL FanDuel lineup, but they do scale the salaries up a little bit to accommodate for the smaller roster size. Let’s take a look at some of my favorite options for the FanDuel Mini slate in Week 7.

Quarterback

Dak Prescott DAL: $10,500 @ SF
Dak Prescott started off a little slow this season, but he has really turned things around over the past three weeks with eight passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns. This week he  has another outstanding matchup against the 49ers, who have one of the worst pass defenses in the league.

Matt Ryan ATL: $12,000 @ NE
Here we have a rematch of the Super Bowl from last season where everyone by now knows that the Falcons blew a 28-3 lead in the second half of the game. It’s very well possible that the Falcons get their revenge this week considering that the Patriots have had an extremely difficult time playing at home in Gillette Stadium. The Patriots’ rank dead last in pass defense and made Josh McCown look like an All-Pro quarterback giving up 354 yards and two touchdowns. If he can do that, there is no reason to believe that Matt Ryan cannot have success either.

Running Back

Le’Veon Bell PIT: $15,000 vs. CIN
Similar to Dak, Le’Veon Bell started off slowly, but has seen his touches trend up lately. Over the past three weeks, Bell has averaged 33 touches per game. If you did not use Bell nearly every week in 2016, you likely saw your bankroll take a hit. That very well could be the case again now that Bell appears to finally be in midseason form.

Ezekiel Elliott DAL: $13,000 @ SF
Ezekiel Elliott was granted a temporary restraining order from the Southern District Court of New York, which means he will be able to suit up this week in an outstanding matchup against the 49ers. Normally I would not recommend using a running back and a quarterback together in the same lineup, but the 49ers currently have the fourth-highest projected team total in Vegas and their offense is great enough to allow both players to go off in the same game.

Devonta Freeman ATL: $12,000 @ NE
Devonta Freeman saw the least amount of touches this season last week with only nine carries and two targets. I don’t think there is anything to be worried about here and just like with Matt Ryan, Freeman has an outstanding matchup. The Patriots have allowed the third-most FanDuel points to opposing running backs this season.

Wide Receiver

Antonio Brown PIT: $14,500 vs. CIN
Ever since Antonio Brown  was verbally frustrated on the sidelines against Baltimore in Week 4, Brown has really gone off with a total of 302 yards a touchdown on 18 receptions and 29 targets. Similar to Dak and Zeke, you can feel comfortable playing both Bell and Brown in the same lineup since the Steelers’ rely on both of them so heavily each week.

Delanie Walker TEN: $7,000 @ CLE
Delanie Walker has yet to have a big game this season, but I think it may finally come this Sunday in Cleveland. The Browns have allowed the most receptions to opposing  tight ends this season and five touchdowns as well. Using Walker allows you to pay up for the last three elite players that I mentioned above.

Julio Jones ATL: $12,000 @ NE
In case you cannot tell, I really like the Falcons this weekend against the Patriots. In fact, I don’t think it’s a terrible thing if you decide to play Ryan, Freeman and Julio all in the same lineup since the Falcons have a healthy projected total of 26.75 points in Vegas. Julio has yet to score a touchdown in 2017, but I think there is an excellent chance that he finds pay dirt this week against a terrible Patriots’ secondary.
