DFS NFL Yahoo Week 7

It’s Week 7. We all need some luck in Daily Fantasy Sports, but that’s not to say that proper preparation is not important. Quite the contrary. With this series of articles, I present the best player prices on Yahoo’s DFS Format.

For roster and scoring settings, check out my Week 1 article.

Home and Dome

There are a few elements that I look at in order to find the most desired matchups. There is what I call Home and Dome, teams that are playing at home with an indoor stadium. Wind can be a factor that can negatively impact passing offenses and being indoors takes that element away. There are five teams that play Home and Dome in the Week 7 Sunday Slate:

Arizona Cardinals vs Seattle Seahawks

Atlanta Falcons vs Detroit Lions

Houston Texans vs Green Bay Packers

Las Vegas Raiders vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

New Orleans Saints vs Carolina Panthers

Quarterback

Matt Ryan (ATL) $28 vs DET

Starting with a Home and Dome game. Among quarterbacks playing on Sunday’s slate, Matt Ryan ranks 11th in points per game so far this season. However, his Yahoo price is tied for 14th at the position. This Lions-Falcons matchup will be one that is referred to often in this article. That is because at 55 points combined over/under, that contest is projected to be the 2nd highest scoring of the entire week. I’d rather invest in the home quarterback at $7 than his road counterpart.

Kyle Allen (WAS) $22 vs DAL

It’s difficult to find a worse defense than in Dallas. According to Football Outsiders, DVOA ranks (Defense-adjusted Value Over Average) the Cowboys unit is 28th in the league. Kyle Allen is coming off a double-digit fantasy performance against a division rival, but he has yet to have a monster performance this year. If that happens in Week 7, it will maximize roster construction with a price of only $2 above the minimum.

More Value: Joe Burrow (CIN) $26

Running Back

Derrick Henry (TEN) $33 vs PIT

On the surface, a matchup with the Steelers run defense is bad. However, it remains to be seen how much the loss of Devin Bush will affect the unit. This uncertainty may keep Derrick Henry’s ownership down. And at $10 cheaper than the most expensive running back, Henry may actually be considered a strong value.

Chris Carson (SEA) $26 @ ARI

Among running backs playing is this Sunday’s slate, Chris Carson is 5th in fantasy point per game. The players ranked in the top 4 are all priced between $33 and $43. Quite a drop in price for a fairly consistent performer. Furthermore, Carson has not been negatively affected by the Seahawks expanded passing attack. In fact, quite the opposite as Carson has been more involved through the air. With 23 targets in only 5 games, he basically has half of last season’s total (47 targets) in only a third of the games played. Also, his 3 receiving touchdowns equal his career total through his first 3 seasons. Playing in a game with 55 point combined over/under, Carson’s passing down work will be vital.

Wide Receiver

Kenny Golladay (DET) $27 @ ATL

At the wide receiver position, there are plenty of great options to stack with either of the quarterbacks that I profiled. When taking Matt Ryan, a solid strategy would be to go with one of his top options. However, Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley are both above the $30 price range. Instead, I would target the Lions go-to-guy in Kenny Golladay. In this potential shootout scenario, Golladay may finally show his ceiling. He has scored a TD or produced 100 yards in each of the 3 games he has played so far. Now he just needs to do both in the same week.

Stefon Diggs (BUF) $25 @ NYJ

Colour me surprised. Among wide receiver playing in Sunday’s slate, Stefon Diggs ranks 7th in fantasy points per game. I did not expect that type of production from Diggs after changing teams. But here we are. Diggs has been as consistent as they come with double-digit fantasy points in every game so far with the Bills. When John Brown missed week 5, Diggs saw 16 targets. With Brown ruled out again, I expect another heavy dose of Diggs for the Bills offense.

Terry McLaurin (WAS) $22 vs DAL

The obvious stack with Kyle Allen is his clear top target. Funny enough, Terry McLaurin is actually the same price as his quarterback. With a combined price tag of $44, they are only $1 more expensive than the highest-priced player on the slate. A relatively cheap stack of the upside they posses against the Cowboys.

More Value: Christian Kirk (ARI) $17

Tight End

Hunter Henry (LAC) $18 vs JAX

While the game total may not be the biggest at a 49 point over/under, the Chargers are 7.5 points favorites. That puts their implied team total at 28.25, tied for 5th highest on the entire slate. With so many great running backs and receivers in the $20-$30 price range, I want to attack the tight ends below $20. On an offense expected to score points, Hunter Henry is the perfect candidate. It also helps that he has received at least 7 targets in all but 1 game so far this season.

Hayden Hurst (ATL) $13 vs DET

If there is any Falcons player I want the most this week, it’s Hayden Hurst. I always look for tight ends in high scoring matchups. And as outlined the Falcons-Lions game is expected to be among the most explosive from an offensive perspective. Now, according to Yahoo’s scoring, the Lions are among the lowest teams in terms of fantasy points allowed to the position (31st fewest to be exact). However, they have not yet faced a tight end of Hurst’s caliber.

More Value: Tyler Kroft (BUF) $11

Deep Dive

Giovani Bernard (CIN) $14 vs CLE

With the news that Joe Mixon has been ruled out for Week 7, Giovani Bernard should get an expanded workload. If the prices were set after Mixon was ruled out, then I expect Bernard would be much more expensive than $14. Take advantage in any format.

A.J. Dillon (GB) $10 @ HOU

Putting A.J. Dillon in your lineup will require some patience. First, we must find out if Aaron Jones will play or not. Jones is will be a game-time decision, but any player who is added to the injury report late in the week is a massive risk. If Joens does play, he will probably take away most of Dillon’s playing time. However, if Jones is in fact inactive, then Dillon will be splitting the backfield work with only Jamaal Williams. Against the Texans defense allowing the 2nd most fantasy points to running backs, the rookie should be productive. Dillon also provides the cheapest possible way to buy into the highest projected over/under of the week.

Defense

Buffalo Bills $18 @ NYJ

Surprisingly, the Bills are not the highest priced defense this week. In fact, they are tied for 5th, even though they are facing arguably the worst team in the league. I’m not necessarily paying up at defense every week. But the fact that the Bills weren’t priced any higher is too much for me to pass up.

Los Angeles Chargers $13 vs JAX

However, if you want to pay down at defense, I think the Los Angeles Chargers are a perfect candidate. Yes, the Jaguars offense has put on points in some games, but their offensive line has not been the best unit. Currently, the Jaguars are ranked 23rd in adjusted sack rate. With the Chargers pass-rush, the defense may make the impact plays that produce fantasy points.
