Quarterbacks
Explosive Play | My top play for the position |
Deep Threat | A deep threat is a second or third tier player that will outperform their price on FanDuel/DraftKings. |
Hail Mary | Also know as a punt, a Hail Mary is a cheap, low-owned player with a ton of upside. Great for GPP's. |
Missed Tackle | A missed tackle is a first or second tier player that I’ll be fading in my contests. |
Explosive Play | Phillip Walker (HOU) $12,000 @ DAL
Yes, he is expensive, but with only eight QBs in this league and only five of them truly viable options, you can’t afford to not play him. Stacking him with his top receiver Cam Phillips will be very difficult, so you may have to pay down for one of his lesser targets.
Deep Threat | Landry Jones (DAL) $9,800 vs. HOU
The over/under on this game is 50.5 points (via Dk Sportsbook), so you will need some exposure. Jones will need to pass in this game to keep pace and as the cheaper option at QB, he makes a good pivot from the high-priced Walker. The issue will be who to stack him with if Donald Parham does, in fact, miss the game.
Hail Mary | Jordan Ta’amu (STL) $8,000 vs. SEA
Ta’amu is the cheapest of the five QBs I feel comfortable putting into a lineup, and his sub-par game last week made his price go down. I think the two QBs I already mentioned will be fairly chalky, so Ta’amu makes for a good pivot with 30-point upside.
Missed Tackle | Taylor Cornelius (TB) $7,000 vs. DC
Others I like:
- Cardale Jones $9,900
Running Backs

Explosive Play | Lance Dunbar (DAL) $6,700 vs. HOU
Despite being the fourth-highest priced RB on the slate, Dunbar is still underpriced. After a game in which he had more DK points (16.9) then he has had all season, more touches (17) then he has had all season, nearly double the number of targets (11) he had in the first two games combined, nearly scoring a TD twice in last week’s game, and is playing in the highest O/U game on the slate — all this and DraftKings raised his price by $100. Lock. Him. In.
Deep Threat | DeVeon Smith (TB) $6,100 vs. DC
Tampa’s road to success is running the ball. They nearly pulled off the upset last week, and a big reason why is their commitment to run the ball — and that commitment starts with DeVeon Smith. He is as cheap as he has been all season, despite coming off a career-high 10.5DK points and tying his career-high with 17 touches. At $6,100, and getting most of the volume, I love Smith this week.
Hail Mary | Dujaun Harris (LA) $3,400 vs. NY
With all three RBs ahead of him on the depth chart either questionable or out, Harris could end up with a huge workload. The Wildcats did activate Winston Dimel from IR, but I doubt he will have a big role in his first game back. At his price, his expected volume makes him the best value on the slate, assuming Elijah Hood, Larry Rose and Martez Williams all miss the game.
Missed Tackle | Christine Michael (STL) $5,700 vs. SEA
I know, he finally had a decent game in terms of DK points. But did he? Take away his TD and he scored 4.4DK points on 3.4 ypc. Unless Matt Jones gets ruled out, I want nothing to do with Michael.
Others I like:
- Donnel Pumphrey $6,500
- Darius Victor (NY) vs. LA
Wide Receivers/Tight Ends
Explosive Play | Tre McBride (LA) $8,100 @ NY
Nelson Spruce has already been ruled out, leaving McBride the clear-cut No. 1 target for Josh Johnson, and we saw what they did last week. This week they a struggling New York team.
Deep Threat | Jalen Tolliver (TB) $6,000 vs. DC
Nick Truesdell missed last week and could miss this week as well as he has yet to practice. Tolliver was the big beneficiary of Truedell’s absence last week with eight catches on 13 targets.
Hail Mary | Adonis Jennings (LA) $3,000 @ NY
Jennings will be asked to do more this week with Nelson Spruce already ruled out. Jordan Smallwood should also benefit, but if you’re looking to punt one of your flex spots to fit in some high-priced guys from the Hou/Dal game, Jennings is as good a punt as any.
Missed Tackle | Mekale McKay (NY) $8,000 vs. LA
Love the talent for this kid, but his QB situation is shaky at best.
Others I like:
- De’Mornay Pierson-El $9,500
- Rashad Ross $8,700
- Jordan Smallwood $6,700
Defense
Explosive Play | LA Wildcats $4,500 @ NY
The Guardians are becoming to team you stream defenses against. In the last two weeks, the Battlehawks and Defenders have 22 and 25DK points against them.
Deep Threat | Seattle Dragons $4,000 @ STL
The Dragons’ defense is better than people thought. They aren’t dominant by any means, but if you’re looking to save a little cash, the Dragons could be your choice. Only the Wildcats have more interceptions than do the Dragons, and only the Wildcats and Roughnecks have more sacks.
Hail Mary | None
Missed Tackle | None
