Top Pitching Options
Clayton Kershaw (DK – $14200, FD – $13000) – On any day that Kershaw pitches you have to mention him. Despite a rough outing last week against the Pirates, he’s still the best pitcher in baseball with his 2.21 SIERA and 32.8% strikeout rate. The fact that his last outing was subpar just lowers his price a bit for us and makes his likely ownership percentage lower. I still expect a solid game against a Nationals team that has been a bit better of late, but still not imposing enough to scare anyone away. Kershaw is a strong play today, although I don’t think you have to force him into your lineup with another strong pitching option for a cheaper price tag.
Jacob deGrom (DK – $11400, FD – $11300) – The pitcher I’m alluding to is deGrom. I’ve said before he’s the ace of the Mets staff this year and the numbers back that up. His 2.95 SIERA and 26.4% strikeout rate statistically make him a top 10 pitcher in baseball. We’ve seen Niese and Harvey hold the Rockies in check and know they are a much weaker team on the road and I expect deGrom to do the same. He may have as much upside as Kershaw in this game, but at a much cheaper price tag, making him a great option as your SP1.
Jason Hammel (DK – $8500, FD – $8300) – Hammel has hit a few bumps lately but still has a 3.31 SIERA and 24.3% strikeout rate on the year, making him a top 20 pitcher, and you can get him for a bargain of $8500 on Draftkings. Despite only pitching 4 innings his last time out, Hammel has looked healthier and sharper in his last two outings and has a decent matchup against the brewers. Since the trade deadline, the Brewers have a 0.285 wOBA (26th) and 20.5% strikeout rate. The Cubs offense is also hot, giving Hammel a great shot at a win and a solid day to payoff his bargain price.
Top Hitting Options
Lorenzo Cain (DK – $4800, FD – $3800) – Cain is locked in right now. He went 4-for-4 yesterday and was a triple shy of the cycle. Today he gets a struggling rookie pitcher in Daniel Norris who gives up a 0.326 wOBA to RHH and got rocked by a middling Red Sox team his last time out. Cain likely won’t put up another 20+ point DK night, but he’s a great safe play who should easily return value in this one.
David Peralta (DK – $4200, FD – $3800) – Peralta is probably the hottest hitter in baseball right now and gets a rookie pitcher that pitches to contact at Chase Field. Despite decent numbers in his first few starts, Nola has not faced an offense of the Diamondbacks caliber yet and will likely struggle in this one. Peralta should be in the thick of it once again and is a top play on the early slate.
John Jaso (DK – $3100, FD – $2600) – Despite having the platoon advantage yesterday, he was facing a reverse splits pitcher in Williams Perez and only turned in a walk. Hopefully you didn’t fall for the trap and aren’t scared off today, because he has a great matchup against Matt Wisler. Wisler allows a 0.420 wOBA to LHH and Jaso should be leading off for the Rays, giving him that coveted extra at bat. I have him projected as the highest scoring catcher tonight and he’s the 16th most expensive C on the evening slate. Lock him in.

Jimmy Rollins SS (DK – $2900, FD – $2800) – Rollins has been leading off and hitting the ball much better of late. At less than $3000 on Draftkings, he’s a great value against a middling pitcher in Jordan Zimmerman.
