Top Pitching Options
Corey Kluber (DK – $11600) – Kluber has been absolutely dominant lately, striking out 37 batters in his last 3 games while only giving up 2 runs. He has a 2.47 SIERA and 29.5% strikeout rate on the year. He’s also a -125 favorite against a Mariners team that has a 0.296 wOBA (23rd) and 22.0% strikeout rate (25th) against RHP. Kluber is the clear top option today.
AJ Burnett (DK – $10100) – Burnett also has a great matchup today against the Padres and is a -125 favorite. The Padres have a 21.9% strikeout rate (24th) and 0.294 wOBA (25th) against RHP. While the matchup is as good as Kluber, he doesn’t have the same K upside but is still a strong option. Burnett has a 3.34 SIERA and 23.1% strikeout rate and should have a strong day. If you can, Burnett and Kluber make a strong pairing on Draftkings for cash games.
Ian Kennedy (DK – $7100) – Kennedy has not pitched well this year with a . However, while he gives up a 0.466 wOBA to LHH, he only gives up a 0.286 wOBA to RHH and all of the Pirates top bats are righties. In a hitter park, Kennedy makes a decent GPP play.
Top Hitting Options
Mike Trout OF (DK – $5300) – Mike Trout faces a Triple-A pitcher in Buck Farmer today making his first MLB start. If you can fit him in your lineup, you should.
Pedro Alvarez 1B/3B (DK – $4000) – Ian Kennedy really struggles vs. LHH to the tune of a 0.466 wOBA against on the year. All of the Pirates LHHs are in play and Alvarez has hit RHP extremely well this year. He has a 0.378 wOBA and 0.273 ISO and comes at a bargain price of $4K on Draftkings.
Marcus Semien SS (DK – $3500) – While Sabathia has been great against RHH this year (0.155 wOBA against), he has struggled with RHH for a 0.388 wOBA against. Semien has hit RHP well this year with a 0.356 wOBA and is a great price for the SS position.
Value Play
Todd Cunningham OF (DK – $2500) – Chris Heston gives up a 0.419 wOBA to LHH and Cunningham is a lefty that has hit RHP very well since getting called up with Kelly Johnson going to the DL. Cunningham has a 0.455 wOBA vs. RHP and is a great value play to help get in two high priced pitchers.
