Eagles Are One Step Closer to NFL Playoffs In 2018
And Then there were two. After The Panthers’ ugly loss to The Saints, the Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings are the two teams left fighting for the final Wild Card Playoff spot in The NFC. Forgive me if I don’t see The Redskins winning any of their final two games. There is even a slight chance after The Cowboys terrible loss to The Colts that The Eagles win The NFC East. I would not bet on QB Dak Prescott, but it would take a beautiful miracle for The Cowboys to finish off their season at any worse than 1-1. The last spot remaining in The NFC Playoffs is The Eagle’s to lose. They have two very winnable games remaining as they host The Houston Texans, who are a good team but are facing a hot Philadelphia Eagles team on the road, then in Washington (Really Virginia) against The below average reeling Redskins.
A week ago if you would have told me that the Eagles were going to dominate the L.A. Rams In L.A. Without QB Carson Wentz in the lineup I wouldn’t have taken you seriously, but it happened, and I’m glad it did. Behind the heroics of backup journeyman QB Nick Foles, who is also last year’s Super Bowl MVP (just in case anyone forgot), The Eagles offense dominated against The Rams to the tune of 30 points in the victory. RB Wendell Smallwood also had the game of his life as he ran for 50 yards and 2 TDs, and All-Pro WR Alshon Jeffery really balled out with 7 catches for 160 yards.
Yet it was without a doubt the play of QB Nick Foles that has given this Eagles team new life for the season. Now because of said victory, The Defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles have a very real chance to get back into the playoffs for the second year in a row. I believe The Philadelphia Eagle will Indeed make the playoffs because I believe that QB Nick Foles will continue to stay hot for the teams last two regular season games, and anything can happen in the playoffs.
Here is how I see it playing out. The Philadelphia Eagles will finish their season at 9-7 and earn that final NFC Wild Card Playoff spot. the Vikings will beat the Lions but then lose to the bears in the final week of the regular season finishing at 8-7-1 on the year and missing out on the playoffs by one half of a game. Bold Prediction: The Philadelphia Eagles will also win at least one playoff game in the postseason!
Side Note: I really hope they beat Dallas in the playoffs this year. That would make an emotional season like this one has been one to remember and with the two teams seemingly heading into completely opposite directions after week 14, a completely possible and awesome scenario. In Saint Nick we trust. Let’s go Eagles! Fly Eagles Fly! The excitement of NFL Football is alive again in Philadelphia.
