FanDuel MLB DFS Advice 4/12/2019

It’s Friday. The weekend is upon us and there’s no better way to start the weekend than by making some easy money. Let’s look at some locks for this slate and see where we can get the best bang for our buck.

Pitcher Value Play

Brad Keller (KAN) $7,800 vs CLE

I’m not a huge fan of most of the pitchers in this slate. There are some options like Jake Arrieta and Patrick Corbin that are higher priced and have high ceilings with good matchups but I don’t like the return. There are some guys I want to target on offense, but I’m not sure I want to pay down too much at the pitcher position. Sandy Alcantara is a deep sleeper pick if you want to stack offense though.

I want to focus on Brad Keller as potentially the best pitcher to build around in this slate. Keller has a matchup against the Cleveland Indians who are 23rd in runs scored. Keller isn’t going to light up the board with strikeouts as his 6.16 K/9 would suggest, but he should be able to pitch deep and limit the scoring. He has a 2.84 ERA through the early going. With the Royals bullpen not being that great you can expect Keller to go long into this game. He won’t get you 50 points, but should be in line for a solid 25-35.

Infielder Locks

(SS) Tim Anderson (CWS) $3,800 @ NYY

Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson is a must-start. He has been off to a hot start. He’s hitting .514 with eight runs and four stolen bases. He adds an all-around aspect to his game that makes him rewarding to own in fantasy. He has a good matchup against the New York Yankees and J.A. Happ. Anderson has hit in all nine of his games and is averaging 17.18 fantasy points per game. Be sure to plug him in at this price.

(1B) Pete Alonso (NYM) $4,200 @ ATL

New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso remains a top choice for me at the position. You get top-tier production for a mid-tier price. He has a fairly favorable matchup against Kyle Wright. He has hit six home runs now and has 17 RBI to go with 10 runs. His .378 average and .530 wOBA signal that he could become a consistent DFS play. I’m going to rock with him until his price tag becomes an issue or his production slows. Right now he’s averaging 19.38 fantasy points per game though, and I must start him. Edwin Encarnacion might be worth the extra $300 if you go really cheap at pitcher.

(3B) Anthony Rendon (WAS) $4,900 vs PIT

I’m adding an extra infield lock and not going high at the outfield spots. I’m really liking these guys in the infield and want to pay for them and their consistency. Anthony Rendon has been killing it for the Washington Nationals and has been great whenever I’ve used him. Maybe you don’t want to pay that high price for him, and if you pay up at pitcher you probably can’t. I can afford him with taking Keller and all my other locks but it makes things tight. He’s averaging 20.55 fantasy points per game right now which is a big contribution. He has 14 RBI and 15 runs from the heart of the order. Rendon is worth the money in my opinion, but I wouldn’t blame you for paying up elsewhere with some good value cheaper at third base.

Outfielder Values

Jorge Soler (KAN) $3,300 vs CLE

Kansas City Royals outfielder Jorge Soler has had a surprising spring. He’s averaging 12.08 fantasy points per game which is pretty nice at his price. He’s going to be my most expensive outfielder since I’m paying up for my infielders. Soler has homered in two straight games. His matchup isn’t perfect, but Carlos Carrasco has a 7.71 ERA right now. If you need a high upside player to round out your roster then he’s your guy.
