FanDuel MLB DFS Advice 4/16/19

Monday had some mixed returns. Lineups definitely should have cashed, but they probably didn’t get top placements. The slate looks pretty fun for today because it’s loaded. There will be lots of value and low ownership plays today. The key will be getting the top pitcher and building around that with consistent hitters.

Pitcher Lock

Matthew Boyd (DET) $9,700 VS PIT

Matthew Boyd has a great matchup as the Detroit Tigers take on the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates are 26th in scoring this year, and shouldn’t be too much of an issue for Boyd. Boyd has an incredible 15.06 K/9 which equates to a ton of fantasy points. In three starts he has averaged 46 fantasy points per game. His ERA is sitting at 2.60 which is good if he can stay in that ballpark. He’s one of the more expensive options, but you can shave a few dollars off while still getting top production.

Pitcher Value Play

Jose Quintana (CHI) $7,900 @ MIA

Chicago Cubs pitcher Jose Quintana figured things out in his last start. He went seven full innings while racking up 11 strikeouts. He scored 64 fantasy points in that contest. His price and ownership will be lower due to his second start where he gave up eight earned runs. That is definitely cause for concern, but I’m going to give him a break since it was against the Milwaukee Brewers. His matchup against the Miami Marlins is much better and offers top notch strikeout potential. I think he will score 35-45 fantasy points which wont be the highest, but I think his value will be the highest in the slate.

Infielder Locks

(1B) Paul Goldschmidt (STL) $3,900 @ MILĀ

St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt has been killing it at Miller park this year. He hit his fifth home run in Milwaukee on Monday. The Cardinals offense continues to stay pretty hot, and Goldschmidt is a very consistent bat in the top of the order. He should be in your lineup again today.

Infielder Value

(SS) Willy Adames (TAM) $2,700 vs BAL

I really like Willy Adames on this slate because he’s fairly cheap and he has been consistent. He now has an eight game hitting streak, and has a great matchup against Baltimore Orioles starter Dylan Bundy. Bundy has a 8.76 ERA and could be stacked against with other Rays players. I like the consistency Adames gives you and allows you to pay up for another consistent player like Anthony Rendon.

Outfielder Locks

Jason Heyward (CHI) $4,100 @ MIA

Jason Heyward has been great so far this season. He’s batting .349 and has four home runs, 10 RBI and 13 runs. He even has three stolen bases, and is looking like the player that the Chicago Cubs signed him to be. You might want to have some pieces of the Cubs offense against a bad Miami team. I like Heyward and Kris Bryant the most for their price and upside. They’ll be facing Pablo Lopez who has a 6.60 ERA this season.

Outfielder Value

Kevin Kiermaier (TAM) $3,500 vs BAL

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier is a good value play for this slate. His price isn’t a super low, huge value play, but he is relatively cheap to the top outfielders. He’s averaging 12.86 fantasy points per game and has done so consistently. He has had production in all areas with nine RBI 12 runs and three stolen bases. I’m really preaching consistency in a slate this big. I may focus more on cash games than GPP plays, but in either case I’m looking to mainly grab consistent players.
