Fantasy Basketball: Add’em or Drop’em for 12/21-12/27

It’s time once again, GF2 fans, for some Add’em or Drop’em players for this week! With football season quickly winding down, I’ll be ramping up my season long basketball coverage for you guys! Like I always say, for season long leagues, it’s always important to be highly active on the waiver wire. I’m here to help you all figure out which players should be on your rosters from week to week.

So, here are my Add’em or Drop’em players for this week:

Trevor Ariza, Rockets SF

Ariza is owned in 79.2 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. This season, I haven’t been a huge advocate of the Houston Rockets’ players from a fantasy standpoint, but Ariza has been playing well of late. So far this year, he has averaged 11.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.0 steals in 34.5 minutes per game. Ariza has also been able to make an average of two three-point shots per contest this year. With James Harden really being the only major scoring threat for Houston, I see Ariza being able to contain his role as a consistent fantasy producer for the Rockets.

Verdict: Add’em

Evan Fournier, Magic SG

Fournier is owned in 57.1 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. Like many of you, I jumped right on the Fournier bandwagon earlier on during the season. He’s been a bit underwhelming lately and has added a finger injury to his problems. A few games ago, Fournier suffered a dislocated finger on his non-shooting hand that has hindered his performance a bit. This season, he has averaged 14.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 31.3 minutes per game. I like to usually keep players with high minutes totals, but Fournier just isn’t doing enough with his time on the court.

Verdict: Drop’em

Kent Bazemore, Hawks SG

Bazemore is owned in 57.6 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. Bazemore was a solid add off of the waiver wire earlier this season, but things quickly changed in Atlanta. He suffered an injury that knocked him out for a while and had to fight his way back into receiving playing time. In 2015, Bazemore has averaged 12.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.4 steals in 28.4 minutes per game. He’s been able to be ultra-consistent for fantasy purposes, averaging a solid 21.0 fantasy points per game.

Verdict: Add’em

Mo Williams, Cavaliers PG

Williams is owned in 49.2 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. Williams was a great replacement for Cleveland while Kyrie Irving was out with an injury. Now, Irving is officially back and Williams will return to his role off of the Cavs’ bench. Not only will he be returning to the bench, he’s also dealing with a finger injury, which doesn’t help us at all. This year, Williams has averaged 13.0 points, 4.1 assists and 2.8 rebounds in 27.6 minutes per game. I just don’t see any reason at all to own him for your season long fantasy basketball leagues.

Verdict: Drop’em

Omri Casspi, Kings SF

Casspi is owned in 37.5 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. Casspi is a real dark horse candidate to produce solid fantasy points going forward for you guys. So far this year, he has averaged 11.9 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 28.5 minutes per contest. He’s been playing very smart, consistent basketball here lately and I believe he could be a nice addition to any of your fantasy squads, especially in deeper leagues.

Verdict: Add’em
