Fantasy Basketball: Add’em or Drop’em for 12/7-12/13

It’s once again time, GF2 fans, for some Add’em or Drop’em players for this week of fantasy basketball! I’ve had tremendous success in my season-long leagues so far this season, owning a combined 9-1 record in my leagues. It’s very important to work the waiver wire on a weekly basis in order to have success in your league. I’m here to help you all determine which players you should not only add but also those guys who aren’t worthy of a roster spot on your squad.

So, here’s my Add’em or Drop’em players for this week:

Jordan Clarkson, Lakers PG

Clarkson is owned in 79.3 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. Coming into the 2015 season, I honestly thought that rookie D’Angelo Russell would take away the spotlight from Clarkson, boy was I wrong. Clarkson has actually been the most consistent source of offense for this Lakers squad. This year, he has averaged 15.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 30.2 minutes per game. Clarkson also puts together nice shooting percentages from the floor, he’s shot 47 percent from the field and a stellar 44 percent from three-point range. If you’re looking for a player to give you solid stats in your points, field goal percentage and three-point percentage categories look no further than this guy!

Verdict: Add’em

Emmanuel Mudiay, Nuggets PG

Mudiay is owned in 74.4 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. A lot of fantasy enthusiasts were super high on Mudiay during the preseason, but he just hasn’t performed well at all during his rookie campaign. So far this season, he has averaged 11.3 points, 6.0 assists and 3.6 rebounds in 30.2 minutes per game. The biggest problem with Mudiay’s game, though, is his horrible shooting percentages. Over his last four games, he’s shot 25 percent from the field, which can easily drag down your fantasy team in category-based leagues.

Verdict: Drop’em

Alec Burks, Jazz SG

Burks is owned in 55.5 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. In 2015, Burks has averaged 15.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 28.6 minutes per game. With Rudy Gobert out for the time being, the Jazz will be putting a smaller lineup out on the floor. Burks has greatly benefitted from the loss of Gobert, scoring at least 19 points over the last three games. The shooting guard position is one of the toughest ones to fill your roster in my opinion, so I’d scoop up Burks while you still can.

Verdict: Add’em

Ish Smith, Pelicans PG

Smith is owned in 48.9 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. Smith has been huge this season for New Orleans even though it has been a disastrous one thus far. This year, he has averaged 11.1 points, 7.4 assists and 4.2 rebounds in 28.5 minutes per contest. Here’s the problem with Smith, though, Tyreke Evans is officially back and is ready to take on his normal role within the starting lineup. So far this season, when Evans was out Smith received 31 minutes per game, now he’s seeing around just 14 minutes a night. Unless another injury comes up among the Pelicans guards, Smith is a guy who shouldn’t be owned.

Verdict: Drop’em

Gorgui Dieng, Wolves C

Dieng is owned in 54.8 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. With rookie Karl-Anthony Towns officially slumping for Minnesota, Dieng has finally received his shot to score some points for our fantasy teams! This season, he has averaged 8.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 21.3 minutes per game. Over the last six games, though, Dieng has received 26.7 minutes, averaging 11.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.5 blocks during that time period. If Towns continues to see decreased minutes, then Dieng’s value will only continue to increase for fantasy purposes.

Verdict: Add’em
