Fantasy Basketball: Add’em or Drop’em for 1/8/16
Alright, GF2 fans, I’m here to give you guys my weekly Add’em or Drop’em players! Managing your fantasy basketball roster can be tricky sometimes. From making tough decisions about dropping players to adding the next big thing, working the waiver wire is how you win championships. From Julius Randle to Cody Zeller, there are guys out there who you all need help with deciding their fate.
So, here’s my Add’em or Drop’em players for the week:
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Pistons SG
Caldwell-Pope is owned in 74.4 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. This season has been an up and down for a lot of the Pistons players. This year, Caldwell-Pope has averaged a solid 14.4 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 37.6 minutes per contest. He has really seemed to find his groove, averaging 17.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.8 three-pointers over the last five games. The way I see it, play these Detroit players while they’re hot.
Verdict: Add’em
Julius Randle, Lakers PF
Randle is owned in 79.8 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. At times this season, Randle has played very well for the Lakers, but lately, he’s played rather flat. So far this year, he has averaged 11.0 points and 9.5 rebounds in 26.4 minutes per game. Not only does his coach think he’s immature, he’s also slowly watching his playing time diminish. I don’t see any reason to keep Randle on your season long squad!
Verdict: Drop’em
Evan Turner, Celtics SG
Turner is owned in 45.5 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. Lately, Turner has really benefitted from Avery Bradley’s recent injury trouble. So far this season, he has averaged 9.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 27.2 minutes per game. This Boston team has a surprisingly fast paced speed that really goes well with Turner’s style of play. As long as Bradley remains out of the Celtics lineup, then Turner is a solid nightly play.
Verdict: Add’em
Trevor Ariza, Rockets SF

Ariza is owned in 75.2 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. It’s been a weird year so far for the Rockets and doesn’t seem to be getting any better anytime soon. This year, he has averaged 11.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 34.1 minutes per contest. It amazes how little Ariza does with the number of minutes he receives per game. Typically I’m all for owning a guy who is starter reaching 30 plus minutes, but not this time.
Verdict: Drop’em
Cody Zeller, Hornets PF
Zeller is owned in 31.2 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. I’ve always been a big fan of Zeller and have been excited to get to see him getting more playing time. This year, he has averaged 8.8 points and 5.7 rebounds in 24.2 minutes per game. Now that fellow big man Al Jefferson is on the injured list, Zeller has seen much more court time. He’s been one of the hottest players in Charlotte over the last few weeks, so jump on the bandwagon now!
Verdict: Add’em
