Fantasy Basketball: Add’em or Drop’em for 2/26/16
What’s up, GF2 fans! I’m back with my weekly Add’em or Drop’em players for fantasy basketball. Like I always say, every great season long fantasy sports players has to work the waiver wire every single week. Sometimes you guys are going to find an absolute gem while other times you’re going to have to cut loose one of your favorite players to watch. Luckily for you guys I’m here to help, so let’s get started.
So, here’s my fantasy basketball Add’em or Drop’em players for the week:
George Hill, Pacers PG
Hill is owned in 78.6 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. Earlier in the season, I was an owner of Hill in a few of my leagues but quickly lost faith in him. He just hasn’t been consistent at all this season and hasn’t been able to stay completely healthy. So far this year, Hill has averaged 12.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 35.2 minutes per game. I don’t typically give up on a guy that draws so much time on the court but Hill just isn’t doing enough to warrant a spot on my roster. I’m not going to blame you guys for holding on to him for another week or two, but I fear that things aren’t going to get any better anytime soon.
Verdict: Drop’em
Myles Turner, Pacers PF
Turner is owned in 68.5 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. Well, we have another Indiana player on my list with the rookie Turner who has been lighting the fantasy world on fire lately. So far during his rookie campaign, he has averaged 10.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 21.6 minutes per contest. The best part about Turner is that he has almost certainly cemented himself within this Indiana starting five for the rest of the year. In three of his last four games, he’s scored at least 16 points and has drastically watched his minutes increase over the last month.
Verdict: Add’em
Elfrid Payton, Magic PG
Payton is owned in 68 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. Payton has been one of those players that you just can’t rely on. Some weeks he has it and others he’s just another mediocre point guard for Orlando. This year, he has averaged 10.7 points, 5.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds in 29.5 minutes per game. The most troubling issue for me isn’t Payton’s inconsistent play, though, it’s the recent acquisition of Brandon Jennings who has been seeing some equal time on the court at point for the Magic. Honestly, Jennings is probably the better overall player, so Payton’s value has quickly diminished in my opinion.
Verdict: Drop’em
Matt Barnes, Grizzlies SF

Barnes is owned in 21.5 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. There’s one huge reason for me wanting to add Barnes to my fantasy team and that’s the lack of players that Memphis has at his position. From Tony Allen being hurt to Jeff Green and Courtney Lee being traded at the deadline, the sky is the limit for Barnes’ fantasy value. This season, he has averaged 9.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 26.7 minutes per contest. He’s coming off a great game against the Lakers where he was on the court for a massive 37 minutes, so it’s time to start giving the guy a look for your fantasy squads.
Verdict: Add’em
Zach LaVine, Wolves PG
LaVine is owned in 52.9 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. I know everyone loves this kid because of his supreme dunking ability even though Aaron Gordon obviously beat him in this year’s dunk contest, but I just don’t see enough relevant fantasy value with him. This year, LaVine has averaged 12.9 points, 3.2 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 24.8 minutes per game. Between splitting starts with Tayshaun Prince and being overall inconsistent, LaVine has no room on any of my fantasy teams going forward, so you guys know what to do.
Verdict: Drop’em
