Fantasy Football: Breakout Candidates ( Dynasty Football)
I won’t bore you with the Devonte Booker and Rex Burkhead breakout analysis. Instead, we will focus on some of the under the radar players that you can acquire cheap and will help you win your championship.
Mitchell Trubisky
This second-year QB for the Bears is at the top of my list to make the biggest leap forward. Chicago traded up to draft their “franchise” QB in last year’s draft and they gave him a chance to prove himself. Trubisky posted average numbers as the starting QB, just over 2,000 yards, 7 TDs and 7 INTS. Take into consideration he did this with zero help. His top WR was Kendall Wright. Let’s face it Mitch wasn’t given much of a chance to succeed in Chicago last year. This offseason the Bears replaced Jon Fox with the offensive mastermind Matt Nagy and added a pro bowl WR in Allen Robinson. That along with the addition of Trey Burton at TE will be a huge turnaround for this entire Bears offense. They will use the electric ability of Tarik Cohen more this coming season, which gives Trubisky a safe floor as well as tremendous upside. The Bears were a below average team last year, but look for them to be the Rams of this year and take a giant step forward with Mitch Trubisky leading the way.
Chris Carson
In only three starts Carson posted 49 carries for over 200 yards and caught 7 passes adding a TD out of the backfield. The Seattle offensive line was atrocious last year. After Lacy and Rawls didn’t work out they decided to go with youth. The 23 year old RB out of Oklahoma State showed he was more than capable to carry the load in his short stint as a NFL back. After he fractured his leg Mike Davis took over and was average. The Seahawks have shown this offseason that they are selling out and looking towards the future. Chris Carson is the future in Seattle. If Seattle plays it smart and drafts lineman and defense in this year’s draft Chris Carson will be a steal in all fantasy leagues. He has all the intangibles to make him a great back in the league. With a Russell Wilson-led offense, Carson will give you amazing upside in the 20th round of dynasty startups.
Chris Godwin
The highly touted WR from Penn State finished his rookie year with over 500 yards and 34 receptions. Over 200 yards, 10 receptions and his lone TD came in the finale two weeks of the season. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers finally realized what they had in Godwin with those two performances to end the season last year. Godwin is a 22 year old stud in the making. He is the perfect compliment to a WR like Mike Evans, Godwin can stretch the field and make big plays each and every week. He will develop a report with QB Jameis Winston and be a steal at pick 182 (average ADP) in your dynasty drafts.
David Njoku
The last player on this list is the first round draft pick by the Cleveland Browns. We already know he has all the physical capabilities of being an elite TE in the NFL, so what makes him better than Kellen Winslow? The Browns franchise have turned over a new leaf. They are the new Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL. They have built around lineman and core players and the Browns will be a playoff team for the next decade. This makes Njoku a reliable fantasy TE, and with the off the charts athleticism, this makes his an elite TE. Jump on the Browns bandwagon now and draft David Njoku in the late rounds of your dynasty drafts.
