Fantasy Football Week 12 Streamers: QB, TE and Team Defense

Before getting into Week 12’s streamers, here’s how Week 11’s streamers did (Yahoo! scoring, 0.5 point-PPR).

Quarterback: Cam Newton-26.16 points
Tight End: Dan Arnold-0 points
Team Defense: Miami Dolphins-5 points

Quarterback: Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers at Miami Dolphins

Newton made his first start of the season in Week 11 against Washington, and he was efficient (20-for-25 for 189 yards, zero turnovers) as well as proficient (two passing touchdowns, one rushing touchdown). The matchups is not as good in Week 12, but it’s not all that much worse.

The Miami Dolphins have been better lately, but they’re still in the bottom-10 against quarterbacks this season and Joe Flacco just threw for 291 yards and two touchdowns against them in Week 11. Only two quarterbacks in 11 games haven’t had multiple passing touchdowns or over 280 passing yards against them, and three of their seven interceptions came in one game.

Newton should be a little more comfortable in a new offense with a full game under his belt, to say nothing of purely being in more ideal football shape after not playing all season before Week 10. He still qualifies as a streamer this week, so I’m going back to the well.

Others To Consider: Tyrod Taylor, Houston Texans vs. New York Jets; Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers vs. Minnesota Vikings; Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins vs. Carolina Panthers; Taylor Heinicke, Washington Football Team vs. Seattle Seahawks (Monday night); Andy Dalton, Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions (Thursday); Teddy Bridgewater, Denver Broncos vs. Los Angeles Chargers; Mac Jones, New England Patriots vs. Tennessee Titans; Carson Wentz, Indianapolis Colts vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers; Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons at Jacksonville Jaguars; Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Atlanta Falcons

Tight End: Dan Arnold, Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Atlanta Falcons

Arnold is another repeat in this space from last week, except he laid a literal egg in Week 11 in a blowout loss to the 49ers (zero catches, zero targets). But he’s still in the top-tier of tight ends in many metrics since being traded to the Jaguars, and Week 12 presents a good spot.

The Atlanta Falcons are in the top half of the league in fantasy points allowed to tight ends but they are also near the bottom in targets allowed to the position (6.5 per game). But according to numberFire, they are 25th in the league in adjusted fantasy points per target allowed to tight ends (1.55), and Arnold may get the squeaky wheel treatment on Sunday. Over five games prior to Week 11, he had at least seven targets and 60 or more yards four times.

Arnold remains widely available, and his doubters have a feather in their cap from last week. But he’s lined up for a rebound in Week 12, and he’s my top streaming tight end again.

Others To Consider: Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals (check ownership); Cole Kmet, Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions (Thursday); Evan Engram, New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles; Logan Thomas, Washington Football Team vs. Seattle Seahawks (check status); Gerald Everett, Seattle Seahawks at Washington Football Team (Monday night); Tyler Conklin, Minnesota Vikings at San Francisco 49ers

Team Defense: Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions (Thursday)

Not facing Lamar Jackson was helpful, but the Bears set a season-high with six sacks as they held the Baltimore Ravens to 16 points in Week 11. They have 10 sacks over their last two games, and they have at least three sacks in seven of 10 games this season.

Being without Khalil Mack (foot) for the rest of the season will hurt, but it won’t matter on Thanksgiving Day. The Detroit Lions have one of the worst offenses in the NFL, and they’ll either have Tim Boyle or a sure to still be a little banged up Jared Goff (oblique) under center. D’Andre Swift and T.J. Hockenson can only cover up so much inept quarterbacking. Back in Week 4, the Bears sacked Goff four times with two takeaways as they held the Lions to 14 points.

A low point total allowed and the promise of multiple sacks and turnovers equals fantasy points (yes, I’m Captain Obvious). The Bears are an easy choice as my top team defense streamer for Week 12.
