Fantasy Football Week 12 Streamers: QB, TE, Team Defense

As usual before diving into a new week, let’s see how Week 11’s streamers did (Yahoo! scoring, 0.5-point PPR).

Quarterback: Alex Smith-9.34 points
Tight End: Logan Thomas-1.8 points
Team Defense: Miami Dolphins-5 points

Another ugly week, but such is life when trying to predict things in 2020.

Here are my top quarterback, tight end and team defense streamers for Week 12. There are no teams on a bye this week.

Quarterback: Derek Carr, Las Vegas Raiders at Atlanta Falcons

After a downturn from Week 8-10, Carr got back in the groove against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11 (23-for-31, 275 yards, three touchdowns, one interception). He has multiple passing touchdowns in seven of 10 games this season (more than 260 yards as well in six of those), and he’s in a nice spot for Week 12.

The Atlanta Falcons are allowing the most fantasy points to quarterbacks, and they’ve also allowed 22 touchdown passes (tied for second most in the league). If you take Mitch Trubisky and Nick Foles together in Week 3, seven quarterbacks have topped 300 passing yards with multiple touchdowns accounted for against Atlanta thus far. Of the remaining three, only one (Teddy Bridgewater) didn’t throw for 300 yards or account for multiple touchdowns.

The Raiders are unlikely to completely hold down the Falcons’ offense, with or without Julio Jones. So Carr is lined up to be throwing plenty on Sunday, and an indoor game takes away the prospect of bad weather (see at Cleveland in Week 8). Within a decent list of qualifiers, Carr gets the nod as my No. 1 quarterback streamer for Week 12.

Others To Consider: Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints at Denver Broncos; Philip Rivers, Indianapolis Colts vs. Tennessee Titans; Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings vs. Carolina Panthers; Daniel Jones, New York Giants at Cincinnati Bengals; Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins at New York Jets; Alex Smith, Washington at Dallas Cowboys (Thanksgiving Day); Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns at Jacksonville Jaguars; Andy Dalton, Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington (Thanksgiving Day)

Tight End: Dalton Schultz, Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Football Team (Thanksgiving Day)

Schultz only had 25 yards against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 11, but he had four catches on six targets along with the game-winning touchdown. While you surely weren’t looking, as the Cowboys went through the Ben DiNucci, Garrett Gilbert, Andy Dalton quarterback carousel and had a bye, he has 21 targets over his last three games with at least four catches and over 45 yards or a touchdown in all three.

The Washington Football Team was not challenged by the Cincinnati Bengals tight ends in Week 11. But they are still in the bottom-12 of the league against the position (Yahoo!, 0.5-point PPR). Against them back in Week 7, Schultz had two catches for 22 yards (on four targets) as the Cowboys lost Dalton to a concussion and went to DiNucci.

Schultz has had three straight fantasy relevant games, with three different Dallas quarterbacks. As the Washington pass rush bears down on Dalton Thanksgiving Day, he may be looking for a safety valve frequently. That’s enough to push Schultz to the top of the tight end streamer pile for Week 12.

Others To Consider: Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia Eagles vs. Seattle Seahawks (check availability, Monday night); Jordan Akins, Houston Texans at Detroit Lions (Thanksgiving Day); Jordan Reed, San Francisco 49ers at Los Angeles Rams; Logan Thomas, Washington at Dallas Cowboys (Thanksgiving Day); Jimmy Graham, Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers (Sunday night)

Team Defense: New York Giants at Cincinnati Bengals

Going into their bye in Week 11, the Giants allowed 20 or less points in back-to-back games and three of their last five. The fantasy point production has been up-and-down, but they have multiple sacks in all 10 of their games this season. Week 12 was looking like a solid matchup, and it has gotten better.

Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon (foot) has not played since Week 6, and he was placed in IR before their game in Week 11 to assure he will miss three more games (Sunday will be No. 2). Then last Sunday, quarterback Joe Burrow went down with a torn ACL and MCL, and second-year man Ryan Finley will step in. No. 2 running back Giovani Bernard also appeared to be banged up last week, so Samaje Perine may get a bigger dose of work than would be ideal.

Finley started three games for the Bengals as a rookie last year. He certainly could have been worse, but he was sacked 11 times, accounted for five giveaways (three INT) and the Bengals scored 13, 10 and 10 points in those games. Two of those games were against the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers, but Finley showed so much that he wasn’t an NFL-caliber quarterback that the Bengals went back to Andy Dalton.

Based solely on the amount of sacks and hits a bad offensive line was allowing on Burrow, the Bengals were already a target to stream a defense against. The Giants are now getting an inexperienced backup quarterback, and possibly a health dose of a No. 3 running back, to go with that bad offensive line. There are some good options this week, but the Giants get the edge as my top streaming defense for Week 12.
