Fantasy Football Week 2 Streamers: QB, TE, Team Defense

Before we dive into Week 2’s streamers, let’s review Week 1’s results (Yahoo! scoring, 0.5-point PPR).

Quarterback: Jameis Winston-21.66 points
Tight End: Gerald Everett-12.90 points
Team Defense-Miami Dolphins-18 points

Now, here are your quarterback, tight end and team defense fantasy football streamers for Week 2.

Quarterback: Carson Wentz, Washington Commanders at Detroit Lions

Wentz wasn’t flawless in his Commanders’ debut against the Jacksonville Jaguars (two interceptions), but he was highly productive (313 yards, four touchdowns, 12 rushing yards) on his way to finish as QB3 for the week. Another favorable matchup is coming in Week 1.

Jalen Hurts did a lot of damage on the ground against them in Week 1 (90 yards and a touchdown), but the Detroit Lions allowed the fourth-highest fantasy point total to a quarterback in the opening week. Wentz is clearly not the runner Hurts is, but he can add something with his legs to go with (usually) being a better passer. The Commanders have a lot of weapons to test a fairly thin Lions’ defense too.

Sometimes a streamer is too obvious to ignore. Wentz has a wide range of possible outcomes on a weekly basis, but even with the possibility of a turnover or two he’s in line to deliver a QB1-level statline again in Week 2.

Others To Consider: Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Indianapolis Colts (check availability); Matt Ryan, Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars; Marcus Mariota, Atlanta Falcons at Los Angeles Rams; Jameis Winston, New Orleans Saints vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers; Baker Mayfield, Carolina Panthers at New York Giants; Daniel Jones, New York Giants vs. Carolina Panthers; Jacoby Brissett, Cleveland Browns vs. New York Jets (2-QB leagues)

Tight End: Gerald Everett, Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs (Thursday night)

Everett caugh three of his four targets in his Chargers’ debut, for 54 yards and a touchdown against the Las Vegas Raiders. Another high-scoring AFC West matchup is coming in Week 2.

The Kansas City Chiefs only allowed two catches for 14 yards to the Arizona Cardinals tight end Zach Ertz in Week 1, but Ertz had a touchdown and a two-point conversion to land double-digit fantasy points through the garbage time back door.

On a short week before Thursday night, the Chargers may be without wide receiver Keenan Allen (hamstring). And if he plays, it’s fair to assume he won’t be at full strength. Some down the depth chart wideouts will get an opportunity (Josh Palmer, Jaylen Guyton, DeAndre Carter) but Everett would surely pick up some extra targets too.

Everett probably needs a touchdown to reach his fantasy ceiling most weeks. But there’s a solid floor based on the prospect of 5-8 targets against the Chiefs, so I’m going back to the well to make him my tight end streamer for Week 2.

Others to Consider: Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams vs. Atlanta Falcons (check availability); Hayden Hurst, Cincinnati Bengals at Dallas Cowboys; Logan Thomas, Washington Commanders at Detroit Lions; O.J. Howard, Houston Texans at Denver Broncos; Mo Alie-Cox, Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars; Hunter Henry, New England Patriots at Pittsburgh Steelers (check availability)

Team Defense: Cleveland Browns vs. New York Jets

The Browns wound up allowing 24 points to the Carolina Panthers in Week 1, but remove a 75-yard touchdown pass from Baker Mayfield to Robbie Anderson and the results look better. The sacked Mayfield four times and intercepted him once. A favorable matchup is on the slate in Week 2.

The New York Jets scored nine points in Week 1, as the Baltimore Ravens sacked Joe Flacco three times with two takeaways. There is some talent in place around Flacco, but overall the Jets’ offense is just not equipped to score a ton of points.

The possibility of multiple sacks, multiple takeaways and a low point total allowed makes the Browns my top team defense streamer for Week 2.
