Fantasy Football Week 2 Streamers: QB, TE, Team Defense

Week 1 is in the books, so now it’s on to Week 2 on the NFL and fantasy football schedule. Before getting into Week 2, let’s see how Week 1’s quarterback, tight end and team defense streamers did (Yahoo! scoring, 0.5-point PPR).

Quarterback: Sam Howell-16.18 fantasy points
Tight End: Juwan Johnson-5.1 fantasy points
Team Defense: Washington Commanders-11 points

Here are your quarterback, tight end and team defense streamers for Week 2.

Quarterback: Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Chicago Bears

Mayfield was not phenomenal in Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings (21-for-34 for 173 yards). But he had two touchdown passes, no turnovers and 11 rushing yards, as he was efficient, at times fiery and clutch. In others words, the best he can be. 11 of his completions and nearly half of his targets (16) went to Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.

In Week 2 Mayfield gets a nice matchup at home against the Chicago Bears, who allowed 245 yards and three touchdowns (and a QB3 finish for the week) to Jordan Love in Week 1. One of the league’s worst defenses doesn’t seem to be any better this year.

You won’t see Mayfield in many streamer columns this week. But I’m going with him, even if it’s a hill I’ll stand on alone.

Others To Consider: Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers at Los Angeles Rams; Derek Carr, New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers (Monday night); Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers at Atlanta Falcons; Mac Jones, New England Patriots vs. Miami Dolphins (Sunday night); Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams vs. San Francisco 49ers; Sam Howell, Washington Commanders at Denver Broncos; Jimmy Garoppolo, Las Vegas Raiders at Buffalo Bills

Tight End: Hunter Henry, New England Patriots vs. Miami Dolphins (Sunday night)

Henry finished as the TE1 in fantasy for Week 1, with five catches for 56 yards and a touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles. Mac Jones threw the ball more than he will most weeks, and more than the Patriots ideally would like him to, but Week 2 is lined up as another game that will require a pass-heavier game plan.

The Miami Dolphins put up over 500 yards of offense against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1. The Patriots’ defense won’t be as much of a pushover in Week 2, but Miami also allowed five catches and a touchdown to Chargers’ tight end Gerald Everett and Donald Parham last week on a lower-volume day for Justin Herbert (33 attempts).

Hunter is sure to be a popular waiver wire add/streamer for Week 2. Mike Gesicki lingers as a threat to his workload (and #RevengeGame for him in Week 2), but Henry the guy this week.

Others to Consider: Hayden Hurst, Carolina Panthers vs. New Orleans Saints (Monday night); Jake Ferguson, Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Jets; Adam Trautman, Denver Broncos vs. Washington Commanders (check Greg Dulcich‘s status); Zach Ertz, Arizona Cardinals vs. New York Giants; Luke Musgrave, Green Bay Packers at Atlanta Falcons

Team Defense: New York Giants at Arizona Cardinals

A 40-0 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1 was a horrible look for the Giants. But the defense was not entirely bad, allowing 265 total yards. Week 2 brings a soft landing to get back on track.

The Arizona Cardinals weren’t as much of a disaster offensively as it seemed they could’ve been in Week 1 against the Washington Commanders. But they did only score nine offensive points and barely topped 200 total yards in the game, with three sacks allowed and two lost fumbles. Josh Dobbs unsurprisingly will get the start under center, again, against the Giants in Week 2.

There’s no downside in the Giants as a streaming defense this week, and the upside is immense. The Cardinals’ offense will be a weekly target to stream a defense against, so I easily go 2-for-2 here.
