Fantasy Football Week 3 Streamers: QB, TE and Team Defense

Before we get into Week 3’s quarterback, tight end and team defense fantasy football streamers, let’s see Week 2’s results (Yahoo! scoring, 0.5-point PPR).

Quarterback: Carson Wentz-28.78 points
Tight End: Gerald Everett-10.10 points
Team Defense: Cleveland Browns
3 points

Here are our quarterback, tight end and team defense streamers for Week 3.

Quarterback: Jared Goff, Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings

Goff went 20-for-34 for 256 yards and four touchdowns against the Washington Commanders in Week 2, and if not for some missed throws and a couple drops he would have had an even better outing. He has multiple passing touchdowns in both games this season, with a 6:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio. A Week 3 matchup is looking pretty good.

When Goff last played the Minnesota Vikings, Week 13 last season, he had 296 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. The Vikings have had one good and one bad game against an opposing quarterback, and it’s worth noting how dynamic a runner Jalen Hurts is to drive the rough outing in Week 2.

But Minnesota’s secondary could be noticeably thin on Sunday. Rookie cornerback Andrew Booth (quad) missed Week 2, and on a short week after a Monday night game he may miss another contest. Speaking of a short week, safety Harrison Smith suffered a concussion late in the game against Philadelphia and his status for Sunday has to be in doubt until further notice.

If might be frustrating to watch Goff misfire some again on Sunday, leaving yardage and fantasy points on the board. But a baseline of 250 passing yards and two touchdowns is attainable against the Vikings, with potential for more.

Others To Consider: Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins vs. Buffalo Bills (check availability); Justin Fields, Chicago Bears vs. Houston Texans; Mac Jones, New England Patriots vs. Baltimore Ravens; Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars at Los Angeles Chargers; Marcus Mariota, Atlanta Falcons at Seattle Seahawks; Carson Wentz, Washington Commanders vs. Philadelphia Eagles; Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers at Denver Broncos (Sunday night, 2-QB leagues); Matt Ryan, Indianapolis Colts at Kansas City Chiefs;

Tight End: Logan Thomas, Washington Commanders vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Thomas had five catches for 37 yards and a touchdown against the Detroit Lions in Week 2. Recovered from a torn ACL, he has been targeted 11 times through two games.

The Philadelphia Eagles have been a little tougher on tight ends in some ways through two games this season, but history still puts any opposing tight end on the radar to start or stream against them in fantasy. Vikings tight end Irv Smith Jr. had five catches on eight targets against them Eagles in Week 2, with a drop that would have likely been a long touchdown.

As the Eagles surely look to put some heat on Carson Wentz Sunday, Thomas may get peppered with targets. Noticeable yardage may only come via that sheer volume, but 5-8 catches, 50-60 yards and coin-flip chance at touchdown along with wide availability puts the Commanders’ tight end atop my streaming list at the position this week.

Others To Consider: Gerald Everett, Los Angeles Chargers vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (check availability); Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams at Arizona Cardinals (check availability); Irv Smith Jr., Minnesota Vikings vs. Detroit Lions; Evan Engram, Jacksonville Jaguars at Los Angeles Chargers; Hayden Hurst, Cincinnati Bengals at New York Jets; Tyler Conklin, New York Jets vs. Cincinnati Bengals;

Team Defense: Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants (Monday night)

The Cowboys’ defense stretches the general eligibility threshold to be a streamer (50 percent owned or less). But they’ve allowed less than 20 points in both of their games this season, against better offenses (Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cincinnati Bengals) than they’ll face in Week 3.

The New York Giants deserve credit for being 2-0. But they’ve only averaged 20 points per game, as Daniel Jones has been sacked a total of eight times. They simply aren’t going to light up any defense, with avoiding turnovers their path to the best they can do.

The Cowboys’ defense feasted on takeaways last season, and that has not come to fruition so far in 2022. Against the Giants on Monday night, the likelihood of multiple takeaways, multiple sacks and a low point total allowed makes Dallas my top team defense streamer for Week 3.
