Fantasy Football Week 4 Streamers: QB, Tight End, Team Defense

Before unveiling Week 4’s quarterback, tight end and team defense streamers, let’s see how Week 3’s streamers did (Yahoo! scoring, 0.5-point PPR).

Quarterback: Matthew Stafford-13.46 points
Tight End: Hunter Henry-2.7 points
Team Defense: Kansas City Chiefs-11 points

Now, let’s look at the top quarterback, tight end and team defense fantasy football streamers for Week 4.

Quarterback: C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Stroud has had a nice start to his NFL career, averaging 40 pass attempts per game with at least 280 passing yards and multiple passing touchdowns in each of the last two. He has yet to throw an interception, in literally one of the best starts to a career a quarterback has ever had.

Week 4 brings a tough matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have a league-high 13 sacks this season. But they are more middle of the pack in fantasy points per game allowed to quarterbacks (13th-fewest, Yahoo! scoring), and they’ve allowed multiple passing touchdowns in two of three games. Back-to-back quarterbacks (Deshaun Watson, Jimmy Garoppolo) have had at least 40 pass attempts against them.

It’s a tough week for quarterback streamers. So I’ll lean into the prospect of pass volume, and how well he’s playing, to land on Stroud.

Others To Consider: Russell Wilson, Denver Broncos at Chicago Bears (check availability); Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams at Indianapolis Colts; Jimmy Garoppolo, Las Vegas Raiders at Los Angeles Chargers (check injury status); Jameis Winston, New Orleans Saints vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers; Kenny Pickett, Pittsburgh Steelers at Houston Texans; Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints; Andy Dalton/Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers vs. Minnesota Vikings (check Young’s injury status)

Tight End: Luke Musgrave, Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions (Thursday night)

Musgrave almost never leaves the field for the Packers (83 percent snap share through three games), and in Week 3 that was met with an uptick in usage (six catches for 49 yards, on eight targets). And if Jordan Love had made a better throw, he would have had a touchdown.

In Week 4 Musgrave gets the Detroit Lions, who have allowed 19 receptions for 220 yards to tight ends over their last two games. It’s worth noting multiple Seahawks and Falcons tight ends combined to put up those numbers (nine and 10 catches total respectively), but the Lions would surely be the worst team against tight ends so far this season by a healthy margin if they had faced Travis Kelce in Week 1.

The possible return of wide receiver Christian Watson this week dampens Musgrave just a bit. But he’s broadly a must-add tight end, and the easy No. 1 streamer at the position for Week 4.

Others To Consider: Jake Ferguson, Dallas Cowboys vs. New England Patriots; Gerald Everett, Los Angeles Chargers vs. Las Vegas Raiders; Hayden Hurst, Carolina Panthers vs. Minnesota Vikings

Team Defense: Denver Broncos at Chicago Bears

The Broncos’ defense was undressed by the Miami Dolphins in Week 3, to the tune of 70 points and over 700 yards of offense. What was expected to be a very good defense has been far less than that so far, but Week 4 is a soft landing and nice rebound opportunity.

The Chicago Bears are simply a mess. Justin Fields has regressed, designed runs for him have not been a prominent part of the game plan and he has been sacked 13 times as the Bears have scored just 27 points over their last two games. Overall, the Bears have ceded the third-most fantasy points to opposing defenses so far this season.

The Broncos defense can’t have a better matchup in Week 4, so they are the easy top streamer for the week.
