Fantasy Football Week 5 Streamers: QB, TE, Team Defense
Before diving into Week 5, here’s how Week 4’s streamers did (Yahoo! scoring, 0.5-point PPR).
Quarterback: Sam Darnold-33.54 points
Tight End: Dawson Knox-18.20 points
Team Defense: Cincinnati Bengals-1 point
Moving to Week 5, here are my top quarterback, tight end and team defense fantasy streamers for the week.
Quarterback: Daniel Jones, New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys
Jones went 28-for-40 for 402 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in Week 4 against the New Orleans Saints, with 27 rushing yards an a two-point conversion run for good measure. So muc for a tough-looking matchup, as “Danny Dimes” has now topped 21 fantasy ponts in three out of four games this season.
On Week 5 Jones gets the Dallas Cowboys, who have allowed over 300 passing yards in all four games this season (and the most raw passing yards in the league through four weeks). If not for eight interceptions (two in each game), they’d be allowing far more than the fourth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks (Yahoo! scoring). Some that is a product of the second-most pass attempts against in the league (42.3 per game), and in particular the opposing quarterback picking up garbage time production in each of the last two weeks.
Sunday’s game in Arlington has shootout potential. Jones is in line to get to 40 pass attempts again, but not need overtime to get there like Week 4. Jones let me down in Week 3, but I’m going back to the well this week for my top quarterback streamer.

Yahoo! Ownership: 31%
Others To Consider: Trey Lance, San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals (confirm Jimmy Garoppolo‘s status); Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons vs. New York Jets (London); Sam Darnold, Carolina Panthers vs. Philadelphia Eagles; Taylor Heinicke, Washington Football Team vs. New Orleans Saints; Mac Jones, New England Patriots at Houston Texans; Jared Goff, Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings: Justin Fields, Chicago Bears at Las Vegas Raiders (if he starts, check availability)
Tight End: Dalton Schultz, Dallas Cowboys vs New York Giants
Schultz followed a Week 3 breakthrough (six catches for 80 yards, two touchdowns) with six receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown against the Carolina Panthers in Week 4. Blake Jarwin also had a touchdown in that game, but Schultz has asserted himself as the Cowboys’ No. 1 tight end with 15 targets over the last two games.
In Week 5 Schultz gets a matchup against the New York Giants, who are allowing the fourth-most fantasy points to tight ends (Yahoo! 0.5-point PPR). The four tight ends who’ve caught a touchdown against them are not exactly among the elite at the position (Albert Okwuegbunam, Ricky Seals-Jones, Lee Smith, Juwan Johnson). Two who might be considered in the top-tier of fantasy tight ends, Noah Fant and Logan Thomas, averaged 5.5 catches, 7.5 targets and 53.5 yards per game against them.

The timing of Schultz’ Week 3 performance seems to have stunted a boom in his ownership rates, and fantasy owners wanted to see him do it again. He practically did, and he goes to the top of my tight end streamers for Week 5.
ESPN Ownership: 30.7%
Yahoo! Ownership: 35%
Others To Consider: Dawson Knox, Buffalo Bills at Kansas City Chiefs (Sunday night); Hunter Henry, New England Patriots at Houston Texans; Maxx Williams, Arizona Cardinals vs. San Francisco 49ers; Tyler Conklin, Minnesota Vikings vs. Detroit Lions
Team Defense: New England Patriots at Houston Texans
Bad weather was helpful, but the Patriots’ defense had a solid showing in Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (19 points allowed, one sack). Fantasy managers dropped them in bunches in anticipation of a Tom Brady revenge game, so they just come in as a potential streaming option for Week 5 in a great matchup.
The Houston Texans were shutout by the Buffalo Bills in Week 4, as rookie signal caller Davis Mills threw four interceptions and took three sacks. In Mills’ two starts, Houston has scored a total of nine points with seven sacks allowed.
Shy of coming out of their bye, this is probably the only week the New England defense will even come close to qualifying as a streamer. Being available in 35-40 percent of leagues is enough to put them atop the list in a thin week for options.
