Fantasy Football Week 6 Streamers: QB, TE, Team Defense

Before the unveiling of Week 6’s streamers, let’s look at Week 5’s results (Yahoo! scoring, 0.5-point PPR).

Quarterback-Geno Smith: 24.02 points
Tight End-Hayden Hurst: 14.3 points
Team Defense-Miami Dolphins: -2 points

Here are your Week 6 quarterback, tight end and team defense fantasy football streamers. Byes start this week, with the Las Vegas Raiders, Detroit Lions, Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans idle.

Quarterback: Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals

Smith had an efficient outing against the New Orleans Saints in Week 5, completing 16 of 25 passes for 268 yards and three touchdowns. He has multiple touchdown passes in three straight games, and in four of five games this season.

In Week 6 Smith gets the Arizona Cardinals, in a game where the early over/under is a shade north of 50. Arizona is a bottom-10 fantasy defense against quarterbacks, but on each end of their five games they’ve allowed five touchdown passes (Patrick Mahomes-Week 1) and two rushing touchdowns (Jalen Hurts in Week 5) to a quarterback to skew the numbers some. They’ve allowed zero or one touchdown pass in three straight games, albeit with the first two against the current shell of Matthew Stafford and Baker Mayfield. Still, it’s not exactly a bad matchup for Smith.

It’s a light week for quarterback streamers (as you’ll see in “others to consider”). The way Smith is rolling right now, he is the easy top option for Week 6.

Others To Consider: Carson Wentz, Washington Commanders at Chicago Bears (Thursday night); Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers at Atlanta Falcons; Justin Fields, Chicago Bears vs. Washington Commanders (Thursday night); Daniel Jones, New York Giants vs. Baltimore Ravens; Zach Wilson, New York Jets vs. Green Bay Packers; Kenny Pickett, Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tight End: Evan Engram, Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts

I almost repeated Week 5’s streamer here too, but let’s got another direction.

Engram had six catches for 69 yards on 10 targets against the Houston Texans in Week 5, setting his season-highs in the latter two categories. In Week 6, he’s gets another shot at the team he set his season-high for catches (seven) against back in Week 2.

The Indianapolis Colts have allowed 27 receptions (eighth-most), 37 targets (tied for seventh-most), 281 yards (11th-most) and four touchdowns (tied for third-most) to tight ends this season. Engram had the aforementioned seven catches for 46 yards on eight targts against them in Week 2.

Engram’s wide range of possible weekly outcomes makes him hard to trust in fantasy lineups. But the matchup is good enough this week to put the high end of that range in play more than the low end, and I’m putting him on double-digit full PPR points.

Others To Consider: Hayden Hurst, Cincinnati Bengals at New Orleans Saints; Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints vs. Cincinnati Bengals; Irv Smith Jr., Minnesota Vikings vs. Miami Dolphins; Logan Thomas, Washington Commanders at Chicago Bears (Thursday night, check injury status); Tyler Conklin, New York Jets vs. Green Bay Packers

Team Defense: New England Patriots at Cleveland Browns

The Patriots shut out the Detroit Lions in Week 5, with two sacks and two takeaways-including a fumble return for a touchdown. They have multiple takeaways in four straight games, with a touchdown in back-to-back games. They have multiple sacks in four of five games this season, with 14 points or less allowed three times. Week 6 is a solid matchup.

The Cleveland Browns have scored 26 or more points in three of five games this season, with multiple sacks allowed just once and no games with multiple giveaways. That said, Jacoby Brissett has thrown an interception in three of the last four games. Bill Belichick is sure to load the box against Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, and make Brissett beat New England through the air.

It’s surprising to see how widely available the Patriots’ defense is, but they were surely dropped in droves heading into Week 3 against the Baltimore Ravens and the last two matchups weren’t good enough to bring a resurgence in ownership rate.

This week against the Browns isn’t looking like a boom week spurred by a defensive touchdown. But a stable floor with a hint of upside makes the Patriots’ defense my top streamer for Week 6.
