Fantasy Football Week 8 Streamers: QB, TE and Team Defense

Before we get into Week 8’s fantasy football streamers, let’s see how Week 7’s streamers did (Yahoo! scoring, 0.5-point PPR).

Quarterback: Jimmy Garoppolo-17.32 points
Tight End: Hunter Henry-1.7 points
Team Defense: New York Jets-7 points

Here are your quarterback, tight end and team defense fantasy football streamers for Week 8. The Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers are on bye.

Quarterback: Daniel Jones, New York Giants at Seattle Seahawks

Jones went 19-for-30 for 202 yards and a touchdown in Week 7 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, along with 107 rushing yards and another score. He has accounted for multiple touchdowns in three of his last four games. He has at least 68 rushing yards in three of his last five, and in one of the exceptions he had 10 attempts. Perhaps most importantly, he has not thrown an interception since Week 3 with just one turnover in those last four games.

In Week 8 Jones gets the Seattle Seahawks, who are trending better but still in the bottom-10 of the league against quarterbacks (Yahoo! scoring). They have allowed over 290 passing yards in three of their seven games. They’ve also allowed 151 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground to quarterbacks this season, though it’s worth noting Kyler Murray had 100 rushing yards in Week 6.

With the common tie to Brian Daboll, Jones is looking like a poor man’s Josh Allen. With a rushing yardage floor and improving efficiency as a passer, the Giants’ signal caller is my No. 1 quarterback streamer for Week 8.

Others To Consider: Jameis Winston/Andy Dalton, New Orleans Saints vs. Las Vegas Raiders; Justin Fields, Chicago Bears at Dallas Cowboys; Jared Goff, Detroit Lions vs. Miami Dolphins; Marcus Mariota, Atlanta Falcons vs. Carolina Panthers; Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers at Los Angeles Rams; Davis Mills, Houston Texans vs. Tennessee Titans; Taylor Heinicke, Washington Commanders at Indianapolis Colts; Sam Ehlinger, Indianapolis Colts vs. Washington Commanders

Tight End: Irv Smith Jr., Minnesota Vikings vs. Arizona Cardinals

Smith didn’t do much beyond a touchdown (four catches for seven yards) in his last game before a bye, Week 6 against the Miami Dolphins. But he has 27 targets over his last five games, with a touchdown and/or more than 30 yards in four of those. Week 8 brings a fantastic matchup.

The Arizona Cardinals’ struggles against tight ends seem to date back to when the franchise played in St. Louis. But all kidding aside, they are allowing the most catches (51), yards (539) and tied for the touchdowns (six) to tight ends this season, and naturally the second-most fantasy points to the position (16.9 per game; Yahoo!, -0.5-point PPR).

Smith may not need a lot of targets on Sunday to have a notable outing. The upside is massive in a great matchup, so he’s at the top of the tight end streamer heap in Week 8.

Others To Consider: Evan Engram, Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Denver Broncos (London-Sunday morning): Greg Dulcich, Denver Broncos vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (London-Sunday morning); Cade Otton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Baltimore Ravens (Thursday night); Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints vs. Las Vegas Raiders; Dawson Knox, Buffalo Bills vs. Green Bay Packers (Sunday night; check availability)

Team Defense: Indianapolis Colts vs. Washington Commanders

The Colts held the Tennessee Titans to 13 offensive points in Week 7, with two sacks and one takeaway. They have multiple sacks in four straight games, while allowing less than 14 points in two of the last three.

In Week 8 the Colts will face the Washington Commanders and quarterback Taylor Heinicke. While Heinicke replaced Carson Wentz capably in Week 7, as Washington beat the Green Bay Packers, he threw an interception (could’ve been more) and took one sack.

The Colts’ defense has not been a problem this season. The Commanders are not equipped to pile up points and yards, with a backup quarterback who can make mistakes in bunches. In a fairly thin group of good D/ST streaming options this week, this is a pretty easy choice.
