Four Down Territory: Big Blue Babbies

Third Down

The regular season is over; let’s take a look at award predictions and compare them to my week one outlooks. Time to eat some crow, I suppose.

Offensive Rookie of the Year: Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

Justin had an amazing rookie season and the sun is shining in Charger land.

Seriously, the guy balled out.

Previous Prediction: Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Kansas City Chiefs

Defensive Rookie of the Year: Chase Young, Washington Football Team

Chase Young lived up to the billing. He lead the Football Team to the playoffs and can be mentioned in the same breath as the Bosa brothers.

For what it’s worth, him calling out Tom Brady after Sunday’s win is awesome. Don’t mince words, young blood. Let ’em know where you stand.

Previous Prediction: Chase Young, Washington Football Team

Rookie of the Year: Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings

This award should go to Jefferson but there’s a good chance it goes to Herbert since he’s a quarterback. Jefferson’s rookie season will be hard to beat being that it’s the best rookie WR season IN THE HISTORY OF THE LEAGUE!

Previous Prediction: Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Kansas City Chiefs

Offensive Player of the Year: Derrick Henry, Tennessee Titans

Henry should low key be the MVP but that’s not going to happen. He’s the 8th person in NFL history to rush for 2,000 yards. He’s also the only man to rush for 2k at all three levels of football.

Previous Prediction: Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

Defensive Player of the Year: T.J. Watt, Pittsburgh Steelers

What is it about the Watt family? They just have a knack for hitting the QB.

Previous Prediction: Aaron Donald, Los Angeles Rams

Comeback Player of the Year:ย Alex Smith, Washington Football Team

Before the season I said Alex should get this award even if he never sees the field. He not only got significant playing time but led his team to the playoffs. There is no discussion, this belongs to Alex and he deserves this moment.

Previous Prediction: Alex Smith, Washington Football Team

Coach of the Year: Sean McDermott, Buffalo Bills

The Bill are the darlings of the league and rightfully so. They’ve won the divison for the first time in over twenty years and Josh Allen looks like an MVP. They’re in prime position to make a serious run this year and years to come.

Previous Prediction: Frank Reich, Indianiapolis Colts

Most Valuable Player: Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

It was close for a little while but Rodgers is playing some of the best football ever. Drafting Jordan Love was the greatest Jedi mind trick this world has ever seen.

Previous Prediction: Cam Newton, New England Patriots
