Four Down Territory: Old Man Yells at Cloud
Third Down
Mock Draft SZN!
I, like all of you, live for mock drafts so let’s do the top ten picks. No trades, just how things stand right now.
Rd 1. Pick 1.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence, QB Clemson.
A generational talent. There’s a reason Jags fans were cheering for the Bears on Sunday.
Rd 1. Pick 2.
New York Jets: Justin Fields, QB Ohio State
The draft gets interesting early. If Joe Douglas cleans house (and he should) the new coach will probably want to move on from Sam Darnold. Zach Wilson is a sneaky pick here as well. If the new regime decides to keep Darnold then there’s a good chance the Jets trade back and get a king’s ransom to help Darnold shine.
Rd 1. Pick 3.
Miami Dolphins (via Houston): Ja’Marr Chase, WR LSU
Chase opted our this year but he’s still the first receiver off the board. The goal for this organization should be to surrond Tua with as much talent as possible. This is step one.

Rd 1. Pick 4.
Atlanta Falcons: Zach Wilson, QB BYU
What an ascension. Matt Ryan is 36 and the new coach is going to want “his” guy. Wilson is QB3 this year and Atlanta starts to plan for life after Ryan.
Rd 1. Pick 5.
Cincinnati Bengals: Penei Sewell, OT Oregon
What a steal. Penei could be easily by gone by now but if not Joe Burrow’s blind side is clean for the next decade.
Rd 1. Pick 6.
Philaelphia Eagles: Patrick Surtain II, CB Alabama
The Eagles need help everywhere so this pick depends on the best player available on their board. In a division where the Cowboys boast the best WR corp in the league the Eagles need to find CB2 and a sucessor to Darius Slay ASAP.
Rd 1. Pick 7.
Detroit Lions: Micah Parsons, LB Penn State
The best linebacker prospect in years. Detroit’s defense isn’t that good so finding an anchor is essential.
Rd 1. Pick 8.
New York Giants: Gregory Rousseau, DE Miami
How did the Giants win Super Bowls the past twenty years? Having a dominant defensive line. Time to get back to basics and build through the trenches.
Rd 1. Pick 9.
Carolina Panthers: Trey Lance, QB North Dakota State
This is a BIG gamble. Trey’s lack of experience and level of competition are the big red flags but Matt Rhule won’t be able to say no to his measurables.
Rd 1. Pick 10.
Denver Broncos: Kwity Paye, DE Michigan
The Broncos had the same formula as the Giants. Win with an elite defensive line. Von Miller is coming off an Achilles injury and this makes Mahomes squirm a little bit more than usual.
