Point Guards
Marcus Smart- $4,200 @ WAS
His ownership percentage is going to be through the roof after his first career triple-double last night, but for good reason. Marcus Smart is a defensive nightmare for back up point guards who have the misfortune of being guarded by him. Not only did he have a triple-double last night, he also notched 2 blocks and 2 steals. The only real gripe about Smart would be, he is shooting an abysmal 31% from the field this year…but he has been injured, so cut him some slack. Smart’s price hasn’t changed after his 53 DK points last night, so take advantage tonight, he only needs 21 points to hit value.
Donald Sloan- $4,000 @ ATL
With Jarrett Jack done for the year with a torn ACL, Sloan will be starting the rest of the year, and he’s actually played extremely well in Jack’s absence. Sloan had 15, 9, and 9 last night against the Blazers last night and 15 and 10 against Detroit earlier in the week. Sloan and Larkin have been sharing minutes lately, but Sloan has clearly won the starting job. Rotowire projects Sloan to have the most value of any player on the slate tonight, just be weary of a blowout as the Hawks are favored by 13 points tonight.
“The Sleeper Pick”- Ish Smith
Shooting guards
Jamal Crawford- $4,100 vs. SAC
The Kings play at the fastest pace in the NBA, which means more possessions and opportunities to score in a 48 minute game for both teams. Crawford is averaging 24.1 DK points/game over his last 3 contests and taking close to 20 shot attempts/game off the bench! Crawford just has a knack for putting the ball in the hoop, plain and simple. The Clippers are without Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan is questionable to play tonight, so the Clippers will be relying on Redick, Paul, and Crawford to score points in a game where the O/U is 216.5 combined points!
“The Sleeper Pick”- J.J. Redick
Small Forwards
Gordon Hayward- $7,500 vs. LAL
With Favors and Burks out again tonight, the Jazz will rely heavily on Hayward for offense tonight against the Lakers. Hayward is the perfect cash game small forward on any given night, he’s averaging 39 DK points/ game over his last 4 games, and has an excellent matchup tonight against the Lakers, who give up the 5th most fantasy points to opposing small forwards. Check out the Jazz’s projected starting 5 tonight: Neto, Hood, Hayward, Lyles, and Gobert…he is the only viable offensive option for the Jazz right now. He has been shooting the ball around 20 times a game, which is getting close to Damian Lillard levels.
Robert Covington- $5,000 vs. POR
Covington started the season off on ? ? ?, but has since gone cold, and the only reason is that he hasn’t gotten a lot of playing time. Jerami Grant is listed as doubtful tonight, which means all of his minutes will go to Covington. Grant has been out for 2 games now, and over those two games Covington is averaging 31 minutes/game. He had 41 DK points last game out against the Bulls, and 24 against LeBron and the Cavs the game before. If Grant is ruled out, gotta like Covington at his $5,000 price tag.
“The Sleeper Pick”- Marcus Morris
Power Forwards
Paul Millsap- $8,100 vs. BKN
What do Rajon Rondo, Carmelo Anthony, and Brook Lopez all have in common? They all are averaging less fantasy points/game than Paul Millsap this season. Millsap is having another excellent year for the Hawks, and even averaging 3.6 assists/game as a power forward! Millsap had a fantastic performance last night against the Bucks, and even had a SC top 10 posterizing dunk on John Henson. Millsap is only $8,100 tonight against the Nets, who give up the 4th highest field goal % in the entire NBA, and that’s because they give up a ton of points in the paint to PF and centers. Horford and Millsap should have big games tonight against Brooklyn.
Thomas Robinson- $3,000 @ ATL
Listen to these numbers: over the last 5 games Robinson is averaging 7.4 PPG, 4.2 RPG, 0.6 steals in JUST 12 MINUTES/GAME! He just needs to find his way onto the floor. Robinson had a double-double last night in just 26 minutes on the court, if tonight’s game is a blowout Robinson could see around 25-28 minutes. Coach Tony Brown has noticed Robinson’s recent play and rewarded him with 26 minutes last night against Portland, hopefully that trend continues tonight against Atlanta.
“The Sleeper Pick”- Frank Kaminsky
Centers
Andre Drummond- $8,600 vs. GS
Drummond’s price has dropped a little after his incredible start to the year, but he’s playing in a high-scoring, fast paced game against the Warriors. It’s no surprise the Warriors play at the 2nd highest pace in the NBA, when a team shoot 3s with 8 seconds off the shot clock, the pace is bound to be fast, which means more opportunities for fantasy points even for the opposing team. The last time Drummond played the warriors he had 15 and 14 rebounds, should have a similar performance for a relatively cheap $8,600.(O/U on this game is 213 combined points!)
“The Sleeper Pick”- Cole Aldrich(If DeAndre sits)
