NBA DFS Fanduel Lineup Advice 1/22/16
What is going on everyone! Feels good to put out an NBA DFS Fanduel post today. We have been going through a ton of changes here at GoingFor2, so I have been a busy man trying to get all the pieces to fit. I won’t get into too much promotion, but I did want to mention a couple of things.
If you haven’t checked out the NBA Spreadsheet yet, I suggest you do. There has been a ton of success with people using it to build their lineups. It’s now live updating, so as news happens, changes are made to the sheet in real-time. (it’s actually kind of creepy if you’re viewing it while the changes are being made, one minute a player is there and then poof, he gets removed). You can check it out here… NBA Spreadsheet
And, one other thing… We will be launching TalkLoud Radio in the next few days. It’s a three-way partnership podcast between myself, the guys over at ClashoftheNerds.com, and Pay Me No Mind podcaster and writer for GoingFor2, R.L. Woodson aka “Wood”. We will be bringing you Sports, Nerd stuff, and pop culture in podcasts. There will be three separate shows all on the same hosting service of TalkLoud Radio.
So without further ado, my NBA Fanduel Advice for tonight…
Game Winner My Game Winner will be my top play for the position.
Dunk A Dunk is a second or third tier player with the highest upside.
Half-Court Shot Otherwise known as a “punt play”.
Pass A player deemed a Pass is a player passing on.
So let’s get started…
NBA DFS Fanduel Lineup Advice and Analysis for 1/23/16
Point Guard
Game Winner Russell Westbrook, Thunder $10,700
Whenever there is a large slate with a ton of value like there is tonight, it’s hard not to put Westbrook or Steph Curry as my game-winner. There is enough value that rostering one of them won’t kill the rest of your lineup. I went Westy simply based on his lower price tag with similar upside.
Dunk Michael Carter-Williams, Bucks $6,500

He has had two sub-par games bringing his price down, and because of those two bad games he will be low-owned, but with a potential matchup with Ty Lawson and the overall bad defense of the entire Rockets team, he will be in at least one of my lineups.
Half-Court Shot Ty Lawson, Rockets $3,800
Speaking of Lawson, if Patrick Beverly is out again, and I expect him to be, Lawson will get a ton of minutes. I don’t expect Lawson to be great, but at $3,800 he could trip and stumble his way into reaching value.
Pass Kyle Lowry, Raptors $9,000
Typically I love Lowry and play him a ton, and I don’t really expect him to be bad here, I just think the pace in which the Heat play could limit his value. I also think this will be a DeMar DeRozan game as he typically kills the heat.
Shooting Guard
Game Winner James Harden, Rockets $9,900
I almost went with Jimmy Butler here because he has owned the Celtics the last two years, including two 40-plus fanduel point games this year. But when I look at Hardens game-log and I see that 70 spot he put up two nights ago, I’m swayed to go with him at a sub 10k price and a good matchup.
Dunk Khris Middleton, Bucks $7,400
Middleton has been on a tear lately and he just dropped 45 fanduel points on the Heat. Now he gets a matchup with James Harden and his non-existent defense. Middleton could go for 40-plus again tonight. In fact, I’m not opposed to stacking Harden and Middleton in the same lineup.
Half-Court Shot J.J. Redick, Clippers $5,600
As I write this, Redick is having an okay game, but previous to that he had lit it up. He gets a favorable matchup against the New York Knicks and will be relied on again to provided the Clippers with a lot of scoring with Blake Griffin expected to be out for this game.
Pass None
Small Forward
Game Winner Gordon Hayward, Jazz $8,200
For long time readers of this column, you know my hatred of playing Gordon. Well, he has managed to change my opinion. Lately, I have loved playing him. He isn’t flashy. He doesn’t play in a big city. Outside of true NBA fans, no one probably would recognize him if he walked into a McDonalds. All this contributes to him always being under-owned. He has a great matchup with the Nets, the matador’s of the east, and will most likely be without Derrick Favors again, meaning he’ll be doing all the scoring.
Dunk Chandler Parsons, Mavs $5,800
See! Told you the break-out game was coming. Okay, so I was three weeks too early, sue me.
There is a good chance Dirk Nowitzki sits this game out meaning Parsons will have to carry more of the offensive load. Even if Dirk plays, at a sub 6k price with 40 fanduel point upside, you can’t beat it.
Half-Court Shot C.J. Miles, Pacers $4,500
I had to really search for a player to put as my H-CS tonight, but Miles is actually a really good candidate. They will normally start him versus teams that play small ball, and the Golden State Warriors pretty much invented small ball, so expect him to get big minutes. He had nearly 30 fanduel points against them earlier in the year.
Pass Carmelo Anthony, Knicks $8,900
This is more of a guess than real knowledge. Melo played 40-plus minutes in his last two games after missing two games with an ankle injury, this has “rest game” written all over it.
Power Forward
Game Winner Draymond Green, Warriors $9,300
I was tempted to put Draymond Green’s mom as my game winner tonight after her tweet about Green not being voted the starter for the West All-Star team!
Nothing like a little motivation from Mama. Expect Green to come out and show he deserved to be a starter!
Dunk Kristaps Porzingis, Knicks $7,100
If I’m working on the assumption that Melo is going to sit out, then I have to put Score-Zingis in this column. If Melo sits Zingis will be the primary source of points.
Half-Court Shot Taj Gibson, Bulls $4,800
He only got 20 minutes the other night, which I can only assume was either the result of foul trouble or the Bulls were trying to match the small ball lineup of the Warriors. Either way, he will see a lot more minutes tonight versus a weak interior defensive team the Celtics. In fact, the Celtics are second to last over the last three weeks versus power forwards and are dead last in rebounds given up, which happens to be Gibson’s forte.
Pass Dirk Nowitzki, Mavs $7,100
There is a good chance he doesn’t play, but even if he does do you really want to start a seven-foot wing player with a knee issue? Yeah, me neither.
Center
Game Winner DeAndre Jordan, Clippers $8,200
It’s not a pretty night for the center position, and I honestly think this will be the position I look to find some value. With that said, Jordan could grab 20 rebounds tonight versus the Knicks and that’s not me exaggerating. I’ll set the over/under at 16 and I’m taking the over.
Dunk Rudy Gobert, Jazz $7,000
The Stifle Tower is starting to get his mojo back, Que Austin Powers theme music… In all seriousness, he has 40-plus minutes over his last two games, so the training wheels are off and he is ready to get back to being dominant. $7,000 is the lowest his price will be from this point forward — buy now.
Half-Court Shot Jonas Valanciunas, Raptors #6,300
Val has quickly become one of my favorite value players over the last week or so, and with the news that Whiteside will miss this game, I think Val will fit in nicely in my lineups.
Pass Brook Lopez, Nets $8,400
A matchup with the Utah Jazz and the Stifle Tower make him not worth paying up for tonight.
The 6th Man
(additional players I like)
- PG Kemba Walker, $8,400
- SG DeMar DeRozan, $8,400
- PF Chris Bosh, $7,600
- SG Klay Thompson, $7,000
- C Zaza Pachulia, Mavs
- SG Rodney Hood, $4,500
