Free NBA DFS FanDuel Lineup and Advice 10/27/15

Welcome back NBA! For the readers that have been with me from the beginning, you know that this site started off as an NBA DFS blog and has since grown to cover all types of fantasy sports. NBA DFS is still the bread and butter though and I am excited to get back to writing some NBA DFS articles.

There are a couple of things that will be different this year. The first change will be where you can find my article each day. Twice a week I will be putting my full-blown advice column on another site. The Wednesday slate of games can be found on Rotowriters.com and the Friday slate of games can be found on FantasyPros.com. I will add links to both each week so that it is easy to find.

Now even though I will be putting out my full-blown advice column for Wednesday and Friday and on another site, I will still do a “mini” post here at goingfor2 on those days as well. These mini posts will be my cash game lineup for that day and analysis on each player I choose. Each mini post will have the link to the full-blown column.

Opening night is a small three-game slate, so I won’t be able to give you a full advice column. Instead, I will give you my Cash game lineup as it is currently constructed. Wednesday night I will do a mini post here as well as my full-blown advice column on Rotowriters.com. So without further ado I give you my…

NBA DFS FanDuel Lineup and Advice 10/27/15

PG Stephen Curry, Warriors $10400

In the rematch of the 2014-2015 first round, can Steph Curry continue his dominance?

Predicting how a player will do in the first game of the season is a difficult thing to do. We only have last year’s stats to go off of, and a lot of players have changed teams, so it’s hard to know what their new role is. For the first week of so of the NBA season, I’m going to play it relatively safe and avoid players in new situations. Stick to what we know, and wait to see what happens for the things we don’t know.

That was a really long-winded way of saying, we know Curry is good, and he is even better when playing at home. He is expensive but worth every penny.

PG Matthew Dellavedova, Cavaliers $3900

Despite the injury to Kyrie Irving, Dellavedova will not be the starter as he was last year during the playoffs. The Cavs acquired Mo Williams to be that fill-in for Irving during his absence. Despite the fact that Delly will be coming off the bench, he should still see good enough minutes to reach value. At his price of $3900 he only needs to give you 20 fanduel points and he allows you to afford higher priced players.

SG Jimmy Butler, Bulls $7500

Derrick Rose or not Jimmy Butler is the Bulls guard you want to own.

Taking Butler here with the expectation the Derrick Rose does not play in the opener. I still like Butler even if  Rose plays, but I love Butler if Rose is forced to miss this game. Updates as we get closer.

SG Eric Gordon, Pelicans $5200

Tyreke Evans will be out 6-8 weeks according to the latest reports. That’s a huge blow to the Pelicans early on as they have lost their second best player for up to two months. Eric Gordon will be the one relied upon to fill the scoring void in his absence. There is one thing Gordon does well and that’s score. He is a steal at $5200.

SF Andre Iguodala, Warriors $4300

NBA Finals MVP looks to start his quest for a back to back Championship season.

How many times in the history of DFS has there been a Finals MVP winner priced at $4300 the following year? I’m going to guess never. I expect the Warriors coaching staff to limit the veterans minutes during the regular season, but not in the first game of the season in front of the home crowd. Iggy will get enough minutes to reach his relatively low value, needing just over 20 points to do so.

SF Nikola Mirotic, Bulls $5500

There was a stretch of a month or more last season in which Mirotic was the highest 4th quarter scorer in the league. In the league!! The rumor is that new coach Fred Hoiberg is planning to start Miro over Joakim Noah to start the season. If this is truly the case than Mirotic could be extremely under priced. Plug him into your lineup now because you may never get a bargain on him again.

PF Anthony Davis, Pelicans $11200

Free nba dfs fanduel lineup 10/27/15
Looking to build on last year, Anthony Davis looks to avenge the first round sweep at the hands of the Warriors.

When building a cash lineup, sometimes you have to take a guy that you know will be highly owned just to counter everybody else. On this slate, that guy is Davis. Yes, he is expensive, but if you don’t have him in your cash lineup and he goes off for 50-plus, then you have no shot at winning. By taking Davis, you eliminate him from beating you. He might be 70-plus percent owned, but you must have him, simple as that. Save your contrarian plays for the GPP’s.

PF Pau Gasol, Bulls $7900

Gasol slowed down a bit last year after being an MVP candidate for the first half of the season. He is an older player that did not get the Tim Duncan treatment of rest days. Tom Thibodeau did not believe in rest days and ran his center into the ground. Well, he has had all off-season to rest up and he gets to open the season against a Cavs team that had trouble with Gasol last year. Not to mention, Timofey Mosgov is dealing with a knee injury that may eventually need surgery, so he could be somewhat limited.

C Anderson Varejao $3900

There really are not a lot of great options at the center position with Andre Drummond and Al Horford the only two worth paying up for. The next tier of guys are all risky plays, so if you’re going to take a risk at center mine as well go with the cheapest one with good upside. Varejao was a decent cheap option last year before getting injured, and with Timofey Mozgov’s minutes most likely being limited due to his balky knee, Varejao could see a decent amount of minutes. We may even see him play power forward alongside Mozgov to counter the Bulls size in the front court.
