Free NFL DFS FanDuel Lineup For Week 5, Sunday 10/11
Every week during the NFL season I’ll be publishing my cash game line up for FanDuel and the rationale behind all my selections.
Again, this is my cash game line-up, and while I always put it in a few GPPs, there are other players at a couple of positions better suited for tournaments.
QB Philip Rivers ($7,500) Despite drafting running back Melvin Gordon in the first round, the Chargers running game has been disappointing and faces a Steelers defense ranked 8th against the run. The Chargers passing game is a different story however. Philip Rivers is having a good season and is averaging 18.5 FanDuel points a game. Rivers also leads the NFL in passing yards. He faces a Steelers defense giving up 17.6 points a game to opposing quarter backs in a game with a decent over/under of 45.5.
RB Le’Veon Bell ($9,000) Bell came back from suspension two weeks ago and scored 22.7 and 24.5 FanDuel poinst, getting 26 and 29 touches in the two games. While he does have a very high salary to pay off, he’ll be the focus of the offense with Ben Roethlisberger out and faces a Chargers defense ranked 25th against the run and 29th defending the pass against opposing running backs. Bell is a true three down back who will be heavily targeted in the passing game as well, having caught seven passes in each of the last two games. This all sets up for a huge game for Bell.
RB Eddie Lacy ($7,600) Lacy is flying under the fantasy radar with a salary of only $7,600 due to a fairly quiet season so far. Fully healthy now after battling injuries earlier in the season, Lacy gets to face a Rams defense that’s been hemorrhaging points to opposing running backs. With Devonte Adams doubtful for the game, the Packers should rely even more on Lacy. Finally, with the Packers installed as solid 10 point favorites, game flow will be working in Lacy’s favor.
WR Julian Edelman ($7,700) When putting together our cash line-ups, we want to be as safe as possible and #1 receivers are as safe as they come. With Brandon LeFell out and the running game completely unpredictable, Edelman is the #1 weapon on the team that Vegas has scoring 30 points against the Cowboys. While Rob Gronkowski gets most of the headlines, Edelman gets most of the targets, 42 in only three games this season. Dallas is ranked 20th against the pass this season and should struggle to contain Edelman.
WR Jeremy Maclin ($6,900) Maclin has developed a nice chemistry with Alex Smith. He’s easily the #1 receiving option in Kansas City, having transformed 40 targets into 28 receptions for 398 yards and a touchdown. He faces a Bears defense ranked 29th against the pass and 29th against opposing teams’ #1 receiver. When you can get a team’s #1 receiver against a poor pass defense, all for less than $7,000, you jump on it.
WR Willie Snead ($5,300) OK, stay with me on this one. Snead has very quietly become the Saints #2 wide receiver and actually leads the team in receiving yards. His receptions have actually increased every week from one to four to five and then finally six last week. The Saints are underdogs in what should be a high scoring game, meaning game flow favors Snead. The Eagles are ranked 2nd against the run, so expect the Saints to do a lot of throwing in this game.
TE Martellus Bennett ($5,900) Bennett is quietly having a nice season for the Bears and even though he’s a tight end, actually leads the team with 31 targets on the year. The Bears are 10 point underdogs to the Chiefs, who are ranked 30th against the pass this season. They’re also having trouble against opposing TEs, ranking 20th in that category. The Bears should be doing a lot of passing in this one and Bennett should be getting his share of the targets, especially in the red zone.
K Justin Tucker ($4,900) Now in his 4th season, Tucker has been one of the best kickers in football. Here he finds favorable conditions as the home favorite against a team with a bad defense. Furthermore, the Ravens often sputter in the red zone, allowing Tucker more opportunities to score fantasy points via field goals versus extra points.
D Denver ($4,400) Through the first quarter of the season, Denver has the best defense on the field and for fantasy purposes as well, averaging 15.6 FanDuel points per game. Here they face a Raiders offense that while improved from last season, still features a lot of young players at the skill positions. Expect Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware to make Derek Carr‘s life miserable, leading to the potential for sacks and turnovers.
