Free NFL FanDuel Line Up For Week 9, Thursday 11/05

Every week during the NFL season I’ll be publishing my cash game line up for FanDuel and the rationale behind all my selections. If you read my article for Week 8 and used my line up in your contests, you probably aren’t too happy right now. My LU limped home to a 84.54 finish, beset by injuries to Ryan Fitzpatrick and Keenan Allen and touchdownless performances by both running backs. We’ll get back to winning this week.

Again, this is my cash game line-up, and while I always put it in a few GPPs, there are other players at a couple of positions better suited for tournaments.

Finally, this is my Thursday night cash LU. I’m not using any of the players from the Thursday night game, but I might change some players out for the Sunday slate based on late breaking news or injury issues. If I do, I’ll let you know.

QB Jameis Winston ($6,700) While it’s difficult to completely trust rookies in cash games, JameisWinston has been remarkably consistent this season. His worst effort of the year against Houston netted 13.44 points, which would still meet cash game value at his price. Sunday he goes against a Giants secondary which made the record books for the wrong reasons last week, allowing 7 TD passes by Drew Brees. The game has a solid over/under of 48 points, with Tampa Bay slight underdogs. Finally, Winston gets his TE, Austin Seferian-Jenkins back from injury.

RB Devonta Freeman ($8,900) Running back is easily the most difficult position this week, as RBs with positive game flow and good match-ups, who aren’t in time shares, are few and far between. Even though we’ll have to pay up a bit, Freeman fits these criteria against a 49ers team, ranked 28th against the run, that looks to have packed it in for the year. The Falcons are healthy 10 point favorites and while Freeman’s point totals have been down a bit the last two weeks, but only because he hasn’t found the end zone; he’s accounted for over 250 total yards during that span.

RB Mark Ingram ($7,700) While many fantasy players will be chasing last week’s points and targeting the Saints passing game, it’s Ingram who finds himself in a good position to have a solid game in Week 9. The game has a good over/under of 47 1/2 points, with the Saints installed as 8 point favorites. The Titans don’t have the firepower to hang with the Saints and Ingram should be able to feast on a defense ranked 30th against the run by Football Outsiders. Finally Khiry Robinson is injured, so Ingram won’t have competition for goal line duties.

WR Julian Edelman ($8,000) This game has the highest over/under of the day, with New England getting an implied total of 31 points by Vegas. You’ll definitely want some exposure to this game and Edelman is a solid, yet economical way to get it. He gets a decent match-up versus Washington’s 19th ranked pass defense and has proven to be Tom Brady‘s favorite receiver with 75 targets and 6 TDs in 7 games. As for game flow concerns, throw those out the window with the Patriots. They keep the pedal down all game.

WR Alshon Jeffery ($7,900) Here we get the second highest O/U of the slate, with a Vegas total of 50. The Bears are 4 point underdogs. Jeffrey struggled with injury early in the season, but appears to be fully healthy now. In his last two games he’s scored 22.6 and 24.7 FanDuel points and gets to face a Chargers defense ranked 23rd against the pass. The Bears lost all-purpose running back Matt Forte last week and should have to lean on the pass to keep up with San Diego.

WR Steve Johnson ($5,400) If you’re more than a novice to daily fantasy sports, you know that injuries often create enormous value in other players. This looks to be the case with Steve Johnson, the one time #1 WR in Buffalo. Keenan Allen just landed on the IR, San Diego’s tight ends are both hobbled and #2 WR Malcon Floyd is a one-dimensional deep threat, whose role doesn’t change regardless of who else is starting. This makes Johnson the new #1 receiver in the 2nd highest O/U game of the game, on a team ranked 6th in the NFL in passing and 30th in running.

TE Charles Clay ($5,700) Clay has been struggling with injuries and QB EJ Manuel, but now appears to be fully healthy and will have his normal QB, Tyrod Taylor back. He’ll face a Dolphins defense allowing 17.7 FanDuel points against opposing TEs (2nd most in the NFL) and ranked 23rd against the pass. Buffalo’s receiver corps is riddled with injuries, so Clay should get some additional looks  against his former team. Also, Taylor is coming back from a knee injury, so he will probably looking to dump the ball off instead of running.

K Josh Lambo ($4,700) When it comes to kickers I have four blocks that I try to check: high over/under, favored to win, kicking at home and kicking in a dome. Lambo checks three and the weather in San Diego isn’t exactly treacherous.

D Atlanta Falcons ($4,900) This is easily the easiest call of the day (and yes, I used “easy” twice there.) The Falcons get to face a 49ers offense that will be “led” by human turnover machine Blaine Gabbert (24 interceptions and 11 fumbles in 29 career games.) Furthermore, Carlos Hyde is highly questionable, Mike Davis is doubtful, Reggie Bush is on the IR, Anquan Boldin is questionable and Vernon Davis is in Denver. Yes, they’ll be highly owned, but this is a cash game, don’t over think it.
