Grading The Philadelphia Eagles 2018 NFL Draft Picks

Rd 1 no. 32: The Eagles traded this pick for a second and fourth-round selection in 2018 and a second-round pick in 2019 with The Ravens.

Image result for TE Dallas Goedert

Rd. 2 pick no. 49: TE Dallas Goedert. Goedert was considered a first-round talent and is the best patch catching TEs may have ever watched tape on. His main NFL comparisons are TEs Travis Kelce and Zach Ertz. This pick feels like a steal. Goedert caught 92 passes last year for over 1,111 yards and 11 TDs this year for South Dakota State and stands at an imposing 6ft 5 239 pounds. He’s extremely athletic and will consistently get yards after the catch. The Eagles like to use 2 TE sets at times which is why I would pick Goedert up in round 3 at the latest for my fantasy football team. My Grade: A+

Rd. 4 pick no. 125: CB Avonte Maddox. He may only be 5 ft 10 and 189 pounds but he makes up for it with big hits and elite athleticism. He had 9 interceptions in college and could prove to be an upgrade over CB Patrick Robinson who cashed in in FA for more money and less time playing playoff football. The Eagles are a contender. I would rather be Maddox. He will start as a rookie at slot CB for The Eagles. My Grade: A

Image result for DE Josh sweat

Rd. 4 pick no. 130: DE Josh Sweat. Sweat was a projected first round pick that The Eagles were somehow able to snatch up in the 4th due to some health concerns. He sure as heck looked healthy at the combine where he tested extremely well. he certainly has the potential to be the steal of the 2018 NFL draft. My Grade: A+

Rd. 6 no. 206 OT Matt Pryor TCU. I knew nothing about this prospect leading up to the draft, but when I put the tape on after the draft I came away impressed. I still expect Big V to be the heir apparent to LT if/when he retires. That being said He could also start at Guard if The Eagles decide to move on from Brandon Brooks and his contract after this year.  My Grade: B

Rd. 7: OT Jordan Mailata from Sydney Austrailia. The good news: This kid is only 20 years old and is a freak athlete at 6 ft 8 350 pounds. He ran a 4.8 40 at that height and weight which is insane. If he does not work out at OT he could be moved to TE or FB in the future based solely on his athleticism. The bad news: He has no American football experience, and is certainly a project player. My Grade: C

Image result for RB Josh Adams

Rd. 7 pick no. 250: RB Josh Adams Notre Dame. Adams is another football player that I would draft this year in fantasy leagues. Much like DE Josh Sweat he has a chance of being the steal of the 2018 draft class. He is a freak athlete with excellent burst, speed, toughness, size, athleticism, and grit. Many NFL experts (myself included) had Adams off the board as early as round three. This has been a strange draft for ball carriers. His production and tape speak for themselves. This year for The Irish RB Josh Adams ran for 1,623 yards and 25 TDs. He ran a 4.45 40 at the combine and is 6 ft 2 215 pounds. I’m still stunned he was drafted this late. Philadelphia Eagles fans and beat writers (Myself included) are very excited about this player and rightfully so. I honestly believe he will have a better career than RB Sony Michel who was drafted late in the first round. RB Josh Adams NFL comparison is HOF  RB, Eric Dickerson. Enough said. He’s a steal. My Grade: A+

My overall 2018 draft grade for The Philadelphia Eagles: Damn good draft for The Defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles. It’s an A and was close to being an A+ I really like this draft class. I think The Eagles drafted at least three guys who will provide immediate contributions this season. Former Eagles kicker David Akers epic speech before he announced The Eagles second-round pick was like getting an extra first round pick as well. I think it is safe to say that These Philadelphia Eagles have an excellent chance to repeat this year.
