Hank Lundy set to face John Delperdang Dec 30th in Cincy
CINCINNATI – The Queen City’s B.O.O.M. Promotions intends to “Ring in the New Year” with a world title fight next Friday night December 3oth. ESPN Friday Night Fights veteran Hammerin’ Henry “Hank” Lundy (26-6–1, 13 KOs) will face John “Bang Bang” Delperdang (10-1, 9 KOs) for the vacant Universal Boxing Federation (UBF) World lightweight title.
The fight marks Lundy’s first return to the ring since his fifth round TKO loss to current unified junior welterweight champ Terence Crawford (29-0, 20 KOs) back on February 27th in New York City’s famous Madison Square Garden. Crawford is also the sixth ranked fighter on ESPN’s most recent pound-for-pound list.
Delperdang, a 24-year old fighter from Escondido, CA, comes into this fight – his first bid for a professional title – earning stoppages in three out of his last four bouts. The California native will need to display the power punching his 82% KO ratio suggests he possesses if he is to overcome Lundy’s noteworthy experience advantage. Lundy’s resume includes complete fights with the likes of Thomas Dulorme, Viktor Postol, Raymundo Beltran and an 11th round stoppage by John Molina Jr back in 2010.
Fight fans can expect the tough Philadelphia-based Lundy to initially rely on his shell defense, nicknamed for his hometown, until he determines whether Delperdang can hurt him or not. Beyond that Lundy will see if the younger fighter can take a punch, or whether he needs to take the prospect into uncharted territory – the bout’s scheduled for 12 rounds.
Fans interested in attending the fight can contact B.O.O.M. Promotions at 513-409-2663 or visit the website at www.BoomFitnessCenter.com for more information. Tickets start at $30 for general admission, and the fight will start at 6:00 PM. There will be plenty of time to celebrate the new year in the more traditional ways!
